Context:

Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM), in coordination with relevant units at Headquarters (HQs) and the Regional Office (RO), the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for coordinating, implementing, monitoring, and reporting on projects in the area of migration health (MHD).

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

1. Provide technical and administrative backstopping, and internal and external coordination, of all Migration Health project activities. Provide timely reporting on activities in line with project documentation and donor requirements.

2. Liaise with government, United Nations, civil society and other key partners in order to strengthen social protection mechanisms, inclusive of health, for vulnerable populations through technical assistance to the government of Mozambique for different types of migrants and by contributing to the formulation of advocacy and communication strategies. 3. Monitor the provision of health service delivery and community engagement to migrants and migrant communities of origin in Mozambique and South Africa (mine workers, ex-mineworkers, Page 1 / 3dependents, widows, elders, children, etc.).

4. Act as the IOM focal point for the Delivering as One UN in Mozambique. Specifically,

co-convene Outcome 7 of the Governance Development Results Group (GDRG): People in Mozambique participate in shaping and monitoring a transparent and equitable national development agenda. Participate in relevant coordination spaces including the Health Cluster of the Humanitarian Country Team and other relevant United Nations coordination groups. 5. Monitor national and regional trends, explore potential entry points for expanded collaboration, and in coordination with the relevant mission and regional units, participate in the development of project proposals relevant to the thematic area of responsibility. 6. Prepare project documents and donor reports.

7. In coordination with relevant counterparts in the mission and region, monitor budget and expenditures, and ensure timely implementation and efficient spend out of project budgets. 8. Undertake duty travel, including liaison with counterparts in the Southern Africa region, as required.

9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Education

• Master’s degree in Public Health (preferably focused on international health and development), Social Sciences (preferably from the Anthropologic or Sociologic fields), International Relations or other related field from an accredited academic institution with five years of relevant professional experience; or

• University degree in the above fields with seven years of relevant professional experience. Experience

• Experience in the field of labour migration and migration health;

• Experience working with governments, donor agencies, UN partners and other international organizations;

• Experience managing projects funded by the European Union an added advantage. Languages

Fluency in English and working knowledge of Portuguese is required.
