About the RoleThe Programme Manager (PM) provides grant management support for a portfolio of assigned countries.Working closely with Senior Country Managers (SCMs) and the Head/Director, the PM plays a key role in ensuring grants are managed efficiently and that timely, high-quality communication and coordination underpin Gavi’s stewardship role.The PM provides support to maintain strong, collaborative relationships with country stakeholders and Alliance partners to enable effective implementation of immunisation programmes and health systems strengthening grants. The role also involves regular engagement with counterparts in Ministries of Health, multilateral development banks, UN agencies (e.g., WHO, UNICEF), civil society organisations, other immunisation stakeholders, and cross-functional teams within the Secretariat (including Legal, Finance, and Resource Mobilisation).2. Key Responsibilities- Facilitate and coordinate all stages of the grant management process, including holistic application, review and approvals, disbursements, monitoring, grant modifications, and grant closures, ensuring compliance with Gavi policies and quality standards.- Maintain oversight of key grant management milestones and tasks, ensuring timely tracking and regular updates to all relevant database- Review and analyse grant-related documentation, including budgets, and support the preparation and issuance of grant documents. - Conduct analyses related to the grant portfolio and support continuous improvement initiatives for processes and tools.- Monitor implementation of Gavi support by tracking progress, analysing performance, identifying programmatic, operational and financial risks, and addressing emerging issues and risks related to grant management.- Develop and maintain timely, high-quality communication and coordination with countries, partners, and internal teams.- Prepare and deliver high-quality materials (correspondence, memos, briefing notes, presentations) that support country engagement and accurately reflect assigned countries’ processes and policies.- Participate in internal and external meetings and events, contributing to monitoring activities and country missions as appropriate.- Monitor the implementation of countries and multi-country technical assistance including grants and workplans tracking and documentation.3. Your Experience and SkillsProfessional Experience:Must Have:- Typically, 5–7 years of relevant experience in international development, public health, or related sectors, with a strong focus on programme or grant management, partner engagement, or donor-funded initiatives.- Experience working in or with low or middle-income countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably in West or Central Africa- Proven experience in financial analysis, budget review, and compliance monitoring.- Demonstrated ability to work in multicultural and multinational environments.Education and Qualifications:- Essential: University degree in public health, health economics, international development, public or business administration or a related field.- Good to have: Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.Technical and Functional Skills:Must have:- Strong knowledge of global health, immunisation issues.- Excellent project coordination, prioritisation, planning, and organisational skills.- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.- Financial analysis and budget review expertise.- Proficiency in standard office software and digital tools.Good to have:- Knowledge of health systems or international development processes.- Knowledge of grant application and management processes in multilateral aid environments.- Experience supporting multi country portfolios or countries that have gone through transitions from international aid.Languages Needed:- Required: Full professional written and spoken fluency in English and French. 4.
