The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is seeking an exceptional creative leader to run its Content and Production team.
This is a rare opportunity to help connect the IMF’s messaging to an international audience of policymakers, financial leaders and global media through compelling high-impact visual storytelling, innovative digital experiences and live events.
Under the general supervision of the Deputy Division Chief, Creative Solutions Division (CSF), the Section Chief, Content and Production leads a diverse team of creative professionals — including producers, editors, photographers and designers — while partnering closely with the Communications Department (COM), senior leadership, and other teams across the Fund.
Beyond operational oversight, this role is expected to shape the future of creative production at the IMF: driving innovation, strengthening storytelling capabilities, modernizing workflows and technologies, and positioning the Fund at the forefront of institutional communications.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads and manages the Content and Production Section, including planning, prioritizing, and coordinating the team’s work program to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Supervises, mentors, and evaluates staff performance; provides coaching and professional development to foster a high-performing and inclusive team environment.
- Assigns work, establishes priorities, and monitors workflows to ensure effective use of resources and adherence to deadlines and quality standards.
- Provides strategic advice to divisional leadership and internal stakeholders on multimedia production, visual storytelling, and audience engagement approaches.
- Contributes to the development and implementation of divisional plans and priorities, translating strategic objectives into operational activities for the Section.
- Oversees the production of multimedia content, including video, design, motion graphics, photography, and virtual and in-person event support, ensuring alignment with institutional standards and communication goals.
- Ensures the application of best practices in content creation, editorial quality, and production processes across platforms and channels.
- Manages relationships with external vendors, production partners, and freelancers, including contract oversight, procurement processes, and performance management.
- Develops and monitors the Section’s operational and capital budgets, ensuring efficient allocation and use of resources.
- Identifies and implements improvements to production workflows, tools, and processes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and quality of outputs.
- Help define the future direction of the IMF’s creative and production capabilities, including adoption of AI-enabled tools and new storytelling formats.
- Collaborates with departments across the Fund, including the Communications Department and other stakeholders, to support cross-functional initiatives and ensure coordinated delivery of content and production services.
- Identifies staffing needs and participates in the recruitment and selection of staff and contractual resources to meet operational requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
Educational development, typically acquired by the completion of an advanced university degree, or equivalent, in Communications, Media, International Relations, or a related field, supplemented by a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant professional experience, is required; or a university degree, or equivalent, and fourteen (14) years of relevant professional experience is required.
- Demonstrated experience managing multimedia content production, creative services, or visual communications in a complex organizational environment.
- Proven experience leading and supervising multidisciplinary teams, including performance management and staff development.
- Strong knowledge of digital content production, visual storytelling, and audience engagement across multiple platforms.
- Experience managing external vendors, contracts, and production partnerships.
- Solid understanding of emerging production technologies, including digital and AI-enabled tools, and their application in content creation.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver results under tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to provide sound advice to senior management and partners across the organization.
A regular staff member who is selected to fill the vacancy will maintain their open-ended status. If the selected candidate is a contractual employee, they will be offered a Term staff appointment. Staff members already on a term appointment will continue their current term but may receive an extension provided that their current term appointment has not already been extended.
