The Global Crop Diversity Trust is seeking an outstanding candidate for the position of:
Information Technology Specialist
Under the direct supervision of the corporate IT Manager, the IT Specialist assists the Crop Trust in strengthening its data and reporting capabilities to support evidence-based decision-making at the executive level. In order to achiev this, the IT Specialist will design, implement, and manage a robust data architecture and reporting framework taking advantage of business intelligence methodologies and building on the organization’s corporate salesforce system. In this regard, the IT Specialist will play a key role in transforming complex and fragmented data sources into coherent, high-level insights through scalable data models and intuitive dashboards.
Since the role sits at the intersection of business analysis, data engineering, and business intelligence, it requires a close collaboration with internal stakeholders across finance, programs, and management to ensure that reporting solutions are aligned with organizational needs and strategic objectives.
The primary responsibilities of the position are the following:
- Translate executive and business reporting needs into structured data models and scalable technical solutions
- Design, manage, and optimize Salesforce data architecture, including custom objects, fields, and automations to support reporting requirements
- Develop and maintain data pipelines integrating Salesforce with additional data sources, including handling and incorporating legacy data
- Lead the design and delivery of high-quality dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI for executive decision-making
- Ensure data integrity, consistency, and alignment across systems, while promoting best practices in data management and reporting
- Provide ongoing Salesforce administration as needed including system maintenance, troubleshooting, and timely resolution of reported issues
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
- Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to take ownership of end-to-end data pipelines.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of working independently.
- Collaborative mindset with a strong attention to detail.
Experience:
- At least 7 years of relevant experience
- Demonstrated experience in Salesforce administration and data architecture, including Data modelling, Salesforce Administration and Workflow automation
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Power BI and Power Query for data visualization and ETL (or demonstrated ability and willingness to rapidly acquire these skills)
- Experience with systems integration and database management
- Experience integrating legacy data systems into modern architectures is highly desirable
- Familiarity with accounting principles or financial reporting systems is an advantage
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English
Terms and Conditions: The Crop Trust offers an attractive remuneration package including a competitive salary, medical insurance and leave provisions. This is a locally recruited position classified as Grade G5 with the highest Level of the locally recruited positions being G5. The entry salary for this position is EUR 63,599. Staff of the Global Crop Diversity Trust (including German nationals) are exempt from host country income tax. All benefits are denominated and paid in Euros. The duty station for this position is Bonn, Germany. Relocation costs are not covered. The initial term of the contract will be two (2) years with the possibility of renewal. The contract will be subject to a probationary period of six (6) months.
