Mission and objectives
The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience.

Context
WFP’s cross-cutting corporate concerns nutrition, gender equality and women’s empowerment, protection and accountability to affected populations, and environmental sustainability are key
strategic drivers of programme integration under the current country strategic plan. With strengthened data collection, analysis and knowledge management capacity that is better aligned with national systems, the WFP Kenya country office tracks and measure in collaboration with the national and county governments how its resilience investments are reducing humanitarian requirements and expanding WFP’s impact beyond that of direct implementation and assistance.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Reporting and Information Management Team Lead, and in close collaboration with the programme, partnerships and communications teams, the UNV will support reporting, information management, and communications activities across WFP Kenya operations

Task description
The UN volunteer will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities:
1. Reporting Support :
• Support the drafting, editing and consolidation of reporting products, including situation updates, programme briefs, donor visibility materials, and operational summaries.
• Assist in compiling information and inputs from field offices and programme units to support timely and accurate reporting.
• Contribute to the preparation of donor-based communication and reporting materials that highlight programme achievements, operational priorities, and impact.
• Support the development of presentations, briefing notes, and talking points, among other reporting requirements.
• Ensure reporting materials are aligned with WFP communication standards, donor requirements, and organizational messaging.
2. Information Management:
• Support the organization, management and dissemination of programme and reporting information across relevant teams.
• Maintain and update information storage, content trackers, and knowledge management systems to support efficient information sharing.
• Assist in consolidating programme data, field inputs and visibility materials for reporting and communication purposes.
• Support the packaging and presentation of information into accessible and user-friendly formats for internal and external audiences.
• Contribute to knowledge management initiatives by documenting lessons learned, best practices and operational highlights from WFP Kenya activities .
3. Communication and Content Development:
• Support the drafting and quality control of human-interest stories, field stories, programme highlights and other content highlighting the impact of WFP Kenya operations.
• Conduct background research and support the management of information, quotes, and field insights to support storytelling, reporting and visibility efforts.
• Support the development of written content for publications, web stories, newsletters, donor visibility materials, and internal communication products.
• Assist in drafting communication materials including briefing notes, talking points, social media content and stakeholder updates.
• Support the development and dissemination of communication and visibility materials for internal and external audiences, ensuring alignment with WFP branding and communication guidelines.
• Contribute to communication and outreach efforts related to WFP Kenya programmes, field missions, and operational activities.
• Ensure storytelling and communication products uphold humanitarian communication principles, including dignity, accuracy, and accountability.
4. Coordination:
• Liaise with programme, field, and technical teams across WFP Kenya to gather timely information, operational updates, and communication materials in support of country office priorities.
• Support coordination of reporting and communication requests across relevant WFP units, UN agencies, and stakeholders.
• Support coordination and information sharing between the WFP Kenya Country Office and the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO), facilitating alignment on reporting, communication, and visibility priorities.
• Assist in ensuring timely communication and follow-up between WFP Kenya and the RCO to promote coherence and consistency in messaging, strategic engagement, and inter-agency communication efforts. Support collaboration between country office and field office teams to strengthen information flow and operational visibility.
5. Additional Responsibilities:
• Support knowledge sharing and information dissemination initiatives within the Reporting and Information Management team.
• Perform other related duties as required to support the effective functioning of the unit and WFP Kenya operations.
