Since 2017, IRC has supported Rohingya Refugees and Bangladeshi nationalities communities in Cox's Bazar, Khulna, Barisal, and Chittagong with integrated services. The organization also addresses climate change impacts by building resilience and promoting economic recovery, education, and protection.

 

Purpose of the Role:

The Operations Officer is responsible for meeting the Operational needs for the IRC Ukhiya Office and overall IRC Ukhiya operations in Rohingya camps and host community under the direct supervision of Field Coordinator/Senior Operation Officer. (S)he will be in charge for all operation activities e.g.  Administration, Logistics, liaison with concerned government & other authorities, facility maintenance. (S)he will work closely with the Operations team based in Ukhiya & Cox`s Bazar.

Reporting to: Field Coordinator

Contract length: 1 Year (with possibility of extension subject to funding, program needs and performance of incumbent) 

 

Highlights of Key Responsibilities:

Administration/ Logistics:

  • Managing all administration tasks of IRC Ukhiya office with proper coordination with relevant team and departments.

  • Manage all admin support staff, outsource service provider staff (cleaner, security guards and any casual volunteer/ labor).

  • Ensure the distribution of the supplies in the camps and the facilities are done as per the distribution plan from the programs and maintain close coordination with the program team.

  • Support in the searching of the land and land negotiations, premises when required in Ukhiya.

  • Assist in the procurement of different items.

  • Ensure maintenance of the office facility, generator, asset and the utilities in the office and make ensure uninterrupted water system, electricity and AC.

  • Responsible for facility audit with the support of the Senior Security Officer and the program team.

  • Ensure the Office Assistant does his/her job according to the terms of references and be in position to set performance goal for the office Assistant.

  • Responsible for working on the office improvement plans for Ukhia office and make sure the office space meets the minimum standards.

  • Provide logistics support to all of the functional locations of Ukhiya.

 

Staff Supervision and Development:

  • Directly manage cleaners, cooks, Health Facility Support Officer, office assistant.

  • Directly manage cleaners, cooks, Health Facility Support Officer, office assistant.

  • Promote and actively participate in initiatives and efforts to build team engagement, inclusion and cohesion in IRC [team/office]

  • Foster ongoing learning, honest dialogue and reflection to strengthen safeguarding and to promote IRC values and adherence to IRC policies.

 

Experience (Including sector/industry):

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Logistics/Operations

  • Experience of working with UN Agencies or Non-Governmental organizations

 

Competencies: Knowledge, Skills & Ability:

  • Very good skills in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Power point

  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills

  • Dedications to humanitarian principles and values

 

Language Preference:

  • Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English

  • Familiarity with Chittagonian language is preferable

 

Specific Educational Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree in Supply Chain/ Operations/ Facility Management/ Logistics/ Management or relevant field.
