About this position

The IDB is one of the main strategic partners for the countries of Central America in promoting their development agendas. The IDB Country Office in Belize is seeking a professional with extensive experience in strategic advisory, stakeholder engagement, and high-level event management to provide direct support to the IDB Country in Belize (CBL). This position is designed to enable the CBL to effectively carry out the IDB’s mission in Belize, with a focus on demonstrating results, organizing high-level engagements, and advising on the Bank’s positioning and relationships in the country.

What you’ll do

  1. Under the leadership of the Country Representative, and in line with the priorities set by the Vice Presidency for Countries (VPC) and the Country Department of Central America (CID), provide strategic and technical advice to advance the IDB’s mission in Belize.
  2. Advise and support the CBL in the design and implementation of strategies to demonstrate the IDB’s impact and results to the Government of Belize and other key stakeholders.
  3. Prepare, implement, and monitor high-level engagement plans for government, civil society, and international partners, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s country strategy.
  4. Synthesize project outcomes and success stories for use in advocacy, reporting, and stakeholder communications.
  5. Keep the CBL informed about current events in the country and analyze and report on current events that may impact the IDB's objectives or operations.
  6. Other strategic-related activities required by the Representative.
  7. High-level event and mission coordination.
  8. Oversee protocol, logistics, and stakeholder engagement for events led by the CBL, ensuring all activities reflect the IDB’s strategic objectives and corporate identity.
  9. Support the effective functioning of the Country Representative’s office, including internal coordination and follow-up on strategic initiatives.

What you'll need

•    Education: Master’s degree in international development, public policy, communications, or other fields relevant to the responsibilities of the role.

•    Experience: At least 5 years of experience in strategic advisory roles, government relations, stakeholder engagement, or high-level event management, preferably in international organizations.

•    Languages:  Proficiency in English.  A work knowledge in Spanish is desireable. 
  

Requirements

•    Citizenship: You are a citizen of one of our 48-member countries. We may offer assistance with relocation and visa applications for you and your eligible dependents.

•    Consanguinity: You have no family members up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.

International consultant Full-Time, 12 months (up to 48 months).
