Overview of positionThe clientsupports peacebuilding, humanitarian, and development projects globally. Clients, mitigates explosive threats in the DRC, including ERW, IEDs, and poorly managed weapons/ammunition. The program collaborates with national authorities (FARDC, CCLAM), international partners, and local communities to enhance security and stability.
Within this framework, client delivers structured and standardized EOD/IED training programmes to national security forces, in close coordination with MONUSCO components and relevant national authorities.
The EOTM Trainer (IICA1) will assist the Training Team Leader in delivering specialized training to FARDC in EOD, IED awareness, Conventional Munition Disposal (CMD), Post-Blast Investigation (PBI), and Basic Search & Detect. The role focuses on practical training delivery, hands-on mentoring during training activities, and capacity building under the direct supervision of the Training Team Leader. The trainer will leverage previous experience in delivering high-quality training in complex environments, including EHAT, ETAC, and Search & Detect courses, to ensure effective knowledge transfer and skill development.
Role objectivesTraining Delivery
Deliver EOD, IED awareness, CMD, PBI, and Basic Search & Detect approved training packages to FARDC specialists, in accordance with IMAS, IATG, and UN standards.
Assist the Training Team Leader in preparing and conducting training sessions, ensuring alignment with established curricula and methodologies.
Utilize operational experience to enhance the realism, relevance and efficient impact of training.
Capacity Building & Mentoring
Provide hands-on mentoring during training activities to FARDC personnel to enhance their skills in explosive threat mitigation, high-risk search, and detection.
Support Training of Trainers (ToT) programs as directed by the Training Team Leader, drawing on previous experience in training security forces in Africa and other high-threat environments.
Assistance in Training Operations
Assist in logistical and administrative preparations for training activities, including coordination with local stakeholders.
Maintain training aids, equipment, and instructional materials in a serviceable condition and in line with our client requirements
Ensure safety protocols are followed during all training exercises, with a focus on maintaining high standards of professionalism and rigor.
Reporting & Documentation
Contribute to training reports and document lessons learned, providing detailed feedback on trainee performance and training effectiveness.
Maintain records of training aids and materials, ensuring they are up-to-date and aligned with our client requirements.

This role reports to Training Team Leader (EOD/IED) – IICA2
Education
First-level university degree (Bachelor’s or equivalent) with 3+ years of relevant experience in EOD/IED operations, OR
Military/police experience (NCO level or equivalent) with 5+ years in EOD/IED operations.
Mandatory Experience
3+ years in EOD, IEDD, or high-risk search/detection (military, police, or UN context).
IMAS EOD Level 3 or equivalent qualification (UN-recognized).
Previous experience in delivering practical training to security forces or similar groups, particularly in high-threat environments.
Field experience in Africa, with a proven ability to adapt to complex security conditions (experience in the DR Congo is a plus).
Experience in mentoring and capacity building for national security forces.
Desired Experience
Experience in CMD, PBI, or Basic Search & Detect training.
Previous work in UN or international mine action programs, including familiarity with our client standards and procedures.
Experience in translating or adapting training materials to meet local needs.
Leadership or management experience in EOD/IED operations, including quality assurance and operational planning.
Languages
Fluent in French (mandatory).
Advanced English (desired).
