Overview

Jhpiego, an international non-profit health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University, is seeking a Regional Coordinator to support implementation of the Adolescents and Children, HIV Incidence Reduction, Empowerment, and Virus Elimination (ACHIEVE) project, based in Kaolack, Senegal. ACHIEVE is an U.S. Department of State–funded global initiative that aims to reduce maternal, neonatal, and child mortality and morbidity and achieve HIV epidemic control through strengthened, integrated maternal, newborn, child, and adolescent health services.

The Regional Coordinator serves as the primary point of coordination at the regional level, supporting alignment between national project leadership, regional and district health authorities, and implementation partners. The role is responsible for coordinating regional activities, monitoring progress against work plans, supporting quality implementation, and facilitating communication among stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of life‑saving services.

Responsibilities

Regional Coordination and Implementation

  • Coordinate and support implementation of ACHIEVE regional and district-level activities in line with approved work plans, technical strategies, and donor requirements.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for regional and district Ministry of Health counterparts, supporting effective collaboration and alignment with national and regional health priorities.
  • Support national technical teams in coordinating MNCH activities across ACHIEVE-supported facilities and communities.
  • Assist in development, tracking, and updating of regional implementation plans, activity schedules, and milestone trackers.
  • Ensure project implementation adheres to Jhpiego policies, U.S. Government donor regulations, and Government of Senegal guidelines.

Partner Engagement and Field Oversight

  • Coordinate activities of regional implementation partners, district teams, and health facilities to ensure consistency and quality of service delivery.
  • Monitor regional and district-level progress toward targets, identify implementation bottlenecks, and support timely resolution in collaboration with national teams.
  • Conduct regular field visits to ACHIEVE-supported sites to monitor activity implementation, verify progress, and provide real-time feedback.
  • Support integration of best practices and quality improvement approaches in service delivery coordination.

Monitoring, Reporting, and Learning

  • Support routine monitoring of program outputs and deliverables at the regional level.
  • Contribute regional inputs to quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc programmatic reports, including narratives, progress updates, and contextual analysis.
  • Support data collection, validation, and basic review in coordination with M&E staff to inform adaptive management.
  • Participate in internal review meetings, after-action reviews, and regional learning sessions.

Operations, Planning, and Financial Coordination

  • Coordinate closely with finance and operations teams to support planning and execution of regional trainings, workshops, supervision visits, and community activities.
  • Support tracking of regional activity expenditures against approved budgets and flag implementation or resource challenges as needed.
  • Assist with logistics and administrative coordination for meetings, field visits, and stakeholder events.

Communications and Knowledge Management

  • Maintain organized documentation of regional activities, outputs, decisions, and lessons learned.
  • Contribute to development of presentations, briefs, and success stories for internal and external audiences.
  • Support dissemination of lessons learned and best practices within the region and across the project.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, International Development, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree in a relevant field is an asset.
  • Minimum of seven (07) years of progressively responsible experience in program coordination, project implementation, or operational support for public health or development programs.
  • Experience working with donor-funded projects, preferably U.S. Government–funded health programs.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating with government counterparts, implementing partners, and decentralized teams at regional or district level.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple activities across locations.
  • Basic understanding of monitoring and evaluation principles and financial tracking related to program implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting MNCH, HIV, nutrition, adolescent health, or quality improvement programs.
  • Experience working at regional or district level within Senegal’s health system.
  • Strong interpersonal, facilitation, and relationship‑management skills.
  • Proactive problem-solving approach and ability to work independently in a regional setting.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work under pressure to meet implementation timelines.
  • Fluency in French required, working knowledge of other local languages is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the Kaolack region and to other ACHIEVE implementation areas, as required
