Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) of the Dominican Republic, the National
Project Support Officer will be responsible for supporting the Programme Support Unit by assisting
the Mission’s strategic planning processes, verifying technical quality, alignment with IOM strategic
priorities, and compliance with institutional standards and donor requirements.

In close coordination with the Chief of Mission and the Regional Office, the position serves as a key
focal point for donor and partner engagement, promoting transparency, accountability, and effective
resource management. Within the scope of this role, the National Progamme Support Officer assist
in coordinating project planning and monitoring, development of donor proposals and reports, and
the implementation of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks, and facilitates inter -unit
coordination, including the integration of cross-cutting approaches in line with IOM policies.

Responsibilities

  1.  Contribute to the development and update of PSU work plans, in alignment with
    organizational priorities and donor requirements.
  2.  Coordinate follow-up meetings with technical and financial teams to monitor progress and
    address implementation challenges.
  3.  Contribute to maintaining compliance with internal procedures and quality standards,
    promoting efficiency and accountability across all processes.
  4. Consolidate and analyze data for periodic reports and strategic presentations to inform
    decision-making.
  5. Support risk management activities and contribute to identifying new funding opportunities.
  6. Supervise PSU staff, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
  7.  Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in law, International Relations, Education, Social Sciences, Business
    Administration, Development Studies, Sociology, Social Work, Economics, or a related field
    with two years of relevant professional experience.
  • Master’s degree in the above-mentioned fields.
 
Experience
  • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United
    Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations.
  •  Experience in working with migrants, refugees, internally displaced persons, victims of trafficking
    and other vulnerable groups.
  • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or
    government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
  • Experience in program management, cross-functional coordination, and donor relations.
Skills
  • Project coordination & support – Planning, monitoring, and cross-unit collaboration.
  • Donor reporting & M&E – Prepare proposals, reports, and track project data.
  • Administrative & IT skills – Budget tracking, record management, and Microsoft Office proficiency.
Languages
  • For this position, Spanish native and fluency in English is required (oral and written).
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish.
