ICT Infrastructure Advisor
(Netherlands based)
You will join a core IT team of specialists focused on aligning IT with business needs, delivering projects, providing support, and managing suppliers. The ICT department is expanding its team and is looking for a proactive ICT Infrastructure Advisor. In this role, you will support and operate our hybrid IT infrastructure, optimize and adapt our systems to evolving business processes, and implement necessary changes within the IT landscape.
The environment supports over 400 users and is built around Fortinet and Cisco technologies Microsoft Azure Cloud, Microsoft Office 365, Intune, windows 10. windows 11, Linux and a Hyper-V cluster.
Position within the organisation
You will be based in our IT department in Amsterdam and report to the ICT Support Operations Coordinator.
Objectives of the position
As ICT Infrastructure Advisor, no two days will be the same. You will frequently collaborate with team members, business units, and suppliers. Responsibilities include managing 2nd and 3rd line support, ensuring optimal performance and security across our IT infrastructure. Acting as a primary link between business and IT, you will develop and refine procedures, deliver technical solutions, and contribute IT infrastructure components for key projects.

Main responsibilities

For your area of expertise, you follow developments in infrastructure technology, cloud services and ICT security.

You safeguard the operation of the ICT infrastructure, both reactively, responding to problems/ issues, and pro-actively, by prioritising the actions needed to keep the infrastructure up to date and acting in compliance with security procedures.

You make a sound analysis of problems presented to you, weigh the options, and produce a solution, also if they arise from changes and new releases.

Being also 3rd line support, you need to find the solutions yourself, or by working with suppliers and/or colleagues. You evaluate software and hardware requests, helping colleagues to find solutions that fit within the scope of security and manageability.

You are the infrastructure expert in projects and greater changes, advising on direction, options in coordination with the organisation, the Technical Leads, and ultimately, realising the infrastructure part.

You align and collaborate with the ICT Coordinator/ Head of the ICT department on contractual issues with infrastructure/ cloud, and application suppliers, projects, or complex changes to safeguard the quality and continuity of the ICT infrastructure.
Specific tasks
-
Maintain and update ICT infrastructure to ensure seamless performance of corporate systems, applications, and platforms.

Manage contracts and performance of external suppliers delivering cloud and infrastructure services.

Provide second/third-line support for ICT infrastructure, business processes, and applications.

Ensure compliance with IT security policies and drive enhancements, including robust identity management.

Develop and deliver ICT solutions, encompassing infrastructure components and solution architecture tailored to organisation needs.

Produce and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, manuals and reports on service levels, security, and compliance, fostering effective knowledge sharing.

Oversee hybrid IT environments, managing Hyper-V clusters, Fortinet firewalls, and Cisco network components for scalability and security.

Administer and maintain system configurations using SCCM, MDT, Intune, and Azure, supporting Windows and linux across organisation environments.

Configure and manage hybrid identity solutions with Azure Active Directory and enforce device compliance policies via Intune.

Execute backup, disaster recovery, and patch management processes for Windows and Linux systems.

Optimize network and system performance using enterprise-grade tools ensuring comprehensive threat detection and mitigation.
Candidate Profile
-
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role. Experience in an NGO context and/or MSF field experience is a plus.

Systems/software experience: Systems/software experience: Microsoft Azure, Fortinet, Microsoft Intune, Microsoft 365, Cisco technology Windows 10 and 11, Linux and Hyper-V

Good understanding of IT service organizations and ITIL processes

A hands-on IT professional with a passion for technology and able to understand its value in a specific context;

A team player, self-starter with the ability to work independently

Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken) are essential. Dutch communication skills are an asset.

We offer
A full-time appointment (based on a 40-hours workweek) for one year with renewal of the contract based on satisfactory performance appraisal.
A gross monthly salary in scale 16 with a current salary range between € 4,085-5,624 gross per month. The exact salary depends on relevant work experience
