What we do

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and, at the same time, promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

Purpose

The Data Analyst will be a member of the Analytics and Reporting team under the Data Governance and Analytics Office and will play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of ICRC data. This position supports data quality enrichment, quality control measures, and process improvement to enable data driven decision making and improve the effectiveness of our humanitarian programs.

Accountabilities & Functional responsibilities

Data Quality Assurance and Control

  • Perform regular audits and validations of financial, operational, and institutional data to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Develop and implement quality control measures to monitor data accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
  • Maintain data integrity by enforcing standards, guidelines, and best practices across systems and processes. 
  • Act as a key resource for troubleshooting and resolving data-related issues.

 

Data Management and Enhancement

  • Support the design and implementation of data quality improvement and/or automation initiatives.
  • Analyze and document data workflows, identifying gaps and areas for improvement.

 

Reporting and Analysis

  • Generate comprehensive reports and dashboards to provide insights on data quality metrics and trends.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to interpret data and recommend actionable solutions.
  • Create and maintain documentation related to data quality processes and policies.

Selection Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (statistics, mathematics, finance, economics, engineering, or similar technical field) or equivalent experience.
  • Data modelling experience and/or SQL skills for querying and manipulating large, complex, and disjointed data from different systems.
  • Solid understanding of data analysis and statistical concepts for validating data integrity.
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and automating reusable data quality and testing processes and framework.
  • At least 1 year of experience using data visualization tools, such as Tableau, PowerBI, or others.
  • Proficiency in data warehousing concepts and principles preferred but not required.
