The World Food Programme (WFP) is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. We are currently seeking to fill an intern position in the ShareTheMeal team within the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) unit, based in Berlin or remotely.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DIVISION:
To reach a world with zero hunger, WFP is investing in and growing private sector fundraising and partnerships. ShareTheMeal is WFP’s fundraising and awareness-raising app. Free to download, the award-winning app is a pioneering way for people to join our efforts in creating a world with zero hunger.
ShareTheMeal currently has more than 1.6 million supporters worldwide, who have shared more than 235 million meals with people in need. WFP is pursuing an ambitious growth strategy for individual giving, and ShareTheMeal is a key driver for this strategy going forward. The team, located in Berlin and also remotely, is focused on increasing the funds raised to help get to zero hunger by further developing the app to include new and innovative features, increasing the engagement of existing users and growing the user base through marketing and communication initiatives. As the user base has grown, there is a significant opportunity to increase funds raised from existing users and deliver an exceptional experience to build a long-term relationship with each supporter.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support ShareTheMeal operationsincluding:
- Support implementation of social media strategy (e.g. gather content; support creation of videos for social media; respond to messages across social media platforms)
- Support influencer outreach and collaboration (e.g. identify and engage with relevant influencers to amplify ShareTheMeal brand awareness)
- Support content implementation (e.g. prepare images, videos and campaign updates to be launched in platform)
- Help facilitate coordination of translations and proofreading
- Support partnerships through outreach to new partners and managing incoming messages
- Assist with donor requests by answering inquiries and troubleshooting issues
- Support in organizing culture-related activities such as team-building initiatives and events
- Support day-to-day office operations and logistics
- Support the preparation of reports, analyses and presentations
- Support other special projects and initiatives as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate programme from a recognized university OR recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme (within six months prior to the application to the internship programme) from a recognized university;
- University course attendance in the past 12 months.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with partners and supporters from diverse backgrounds
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills
- High attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint
WORKING LANGUAGES
Excellent written and spoken English is required (proficiency/level C). Advanced knowledge of German, French, Arabic or Spanish would be a plus.
SUPERVISION
Under the direct supervision of Head of Operational and Strategic Planning at ShareTheMeal, the incumbent will be provided with close mentoring and guidance.
TRAINING COMPONENTS
Throughout their assignment WFP interns have access to an industry leading learning platform, weLearn. Depending on opportunities and availability of funds, he/she may participate in WFP workshops or seminars, as appropriate.
LEARNING ELEMENTS
At the end of the assignment, the Intern should:
- Obtain and overview of how WFP operates to fight hunger
- Understand how ShareTheMeal and WFP engage with partners and supporters
- Develop skills in customer service and communications
TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
- Interns receive a monthly stipend from WFP up to the maximum amount of US$1000 per month depending on the duty station of assignment.
- WFP is not responsible for living expenses, arrangements for accommodation, necessary visas and related costs.
- WFP will reimburse travel ticket for candidates who are nationals of developing countries and are pursuing their studies in their home country.
- WFP will recognize candidates’ educational credentials from recognised institutions that have been certified by competent international or national authorities such as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) or Ministries of Education.
- Candidates who bear any of the following relations to WFP staff members are not eligible to apply: sons, daughters, brothers or sisters.
