Overview:

The Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) implements programs that require consistent monitoring, assessment, and evaluation. Enumerators play a crucial role in conducting assessments and data collection for these projects. NRC is seeking enumerators to support program assessments, data collection, and data entry in  Laascaanood an Bduuhoodle. 

Background 

NRC has been active in Somalia since 2004 with four area offices in Kismayu, Mogadishu, Garowe and Hargeisa, providing protection and humanitarian assistance to refugees, internally displaced persons and returnees in Somaliland, Puntland, South Central and Jubbaland regions. NRC offers a comprehensive response for returnees and IDPs of high need, addressing their food security, livelihood, shelter,  education, ICLA, and water, hygiene and sanitation needs and also responding to emergencies through NRC’s five core competences; Shelter,  Education, Food Security and Livelihoods, WASH and Information, Counselling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) and Protection for violence.

 

NRC Somalia is part of NRC’s East and Southern Africa  regional operation which comprises of large-scale multi-country humanitarian and early recovery interventions spread across. NRC’s overall strategy in the region is to enhance protection and promote the rights of displaced people in humanitarian need by improving living conditions and seeking durable solutions. The regional office is based in Nairobi and works with country programmes to ensure standardization of programmatic and operational approaches, promote multi country programming and ensuring quality and coordination.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist NRC MEL department in collecting data as per the program/ project needs.
  • Understand the questionnaires before undertaking any interviews with respondents.
  • Maintain effective communication with MEL staff and other colleagues working in the field.
  • Respond to follow up data quality checks by MEL department during data collection and after completion of data collection.
  • Report on all field challenges to MEL officers/Assistants assigned to work with in each assignment.
  • Represent NRC professionally during the engagement of data collection!
  • Contact NRC program beneficiaries through the usage of predetermined questionnaire, key informant interviews, focus group discussions and collect data from them.
  • Ensure completeness of survey questions for accuracy and consistent during interviews with respondents. 
  • File and archive all hard data collected from the NRC beneficiaries ensuring that they arranged probably and in a correct manner.
  • Ensures the confidentiality of collected data and data storage are maintained.
  • Maintain and safeguarding of all the equipment’s in the call centre.
  • Implement field data collections of any type (quick surveys, assessment, Impact assessment) as requested by NRC department.
  • Provides data entry services through use of digital mobile data collection systems.
  • Ensure timely submission of data collected on daily bases.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Young graduates with high skills in conducting community-level surveys.
  • Experience in data collection and familiarity with survey methodologies.
  • Proficiency in using digital data gathering technology.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with respondents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with the local context and understanding of the humanitarian sector is desirable.

Duration and type of contract: short-term contracts that are need based.
