We are seeking a Consultant to support the IT projects and new initiatives planned by Technology Architecture and Operations Section, part of Information & Communication Technology Division on the UNICEF New York Headquarters. The work is onsite for the UNICEF NY HQ, United States.

The overarching strategic goal of UNICEF’s Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD) is to transform and build partnerships with our stakeholders to successfully implement UNICEF programmes globally through the use of innovative technology-enabled solutions.

How can you make a difference?

The consultant will support Technology Architecture and Operations Section, part of Information & Communication Technology Division on the UNICEF New York Head Quarters.

This position is under the supervision of the ICTD Manager, ICT Operations & HQ Support in the Technology Architecture and Operations Section of the ICT Division.

 

Key responsibilities / Scope of work:

Video Conferencing & Event Management Augmentation

Short Description: Under the supervision of the ICT Officer, Telecommunications, the consultant will assist the Video Conferencing Team with the following tasks:

· Maintain ICTD assets in NYHQ Conference Rooms (Polycom, Logi, Lenovo).
1. Apply patches and firmware upgrades as needed.
2. Conduct account renewals as required.
3. Ensure proper asset count is maintained.

· Maintain specialized Audio-Visual assets in Danny Kaye Visitor’s Centre, Henry LaBouisse Hall, and Maurice Pate Conference Room. Liaise with the vendors for troubleshooting and problem resolution.

· Provide additional Video Conferencing Support as instructed by the ICT Officer, Telecommunications.

 Network Operations

Short Description: Under the supervision of ICT Specialist, Network Operations, the consultant will assist the Network Operations Team with the following tasks:

·General network cabling clean-up in the B2 Data Center and Floor Data Closets.
1. Remove unused Cat4/5 patch cables in the Data Center and Floor Data Closets;
2. Remove Cat6 & MMF cables from the overhead cable trays upon structured rewiring completion;
3. Inventory boxes of cables in B2 stores and Floor Data Closets left over from previous installations;
4. Clean up Floor Data Closets and dust PSUs and modules of Floor Switches.

· Support to un-rack and PSB unused network devices in B2 Data Center.

· Clean up Network Operations inventory records.
1. Update network inventory records are after the 2024 Asset Count cycle;
2. Update inventory in Network Management Systems (DNA, Cisco Prime, NDFC, SolarWinds UDT & IPAM, and PRTG).

· Replace Wi-Fi Access Points that are not working properly/reliably.

· Provide additional Network Operations Support as instructed by the ICT Specialist, Network Operations.

Data Centre Operations

Short Description: Under the supervision of the Data Centre Manager, the consultant will assist the Data Centre Operations Team with the following tasks.

· Support to un-rack and PSB unused servers and storage devices in B2 and 633 Data Centers.

· Support installation and activation of HPE GreenLake environment.

· Assist in management of PaperCut printing system
1. Maintain print queues;
2. Liaise with the vendor providing the service for troubleshooting and problem resolution.

To qualify as a champion for every child you will have...

• A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or similar is desirable.

• Certifications on Windows Client, Windows Server, Device Management Technologies are desirable.

• Knowledge of IT Operations.

• Proven Experience Supporting Computing Environments.

• Proven experience following and contributing to Process, Inventories, Service Support and Documentation.

• Experience of System Tools like Windows Server/Client, Application and  Server Monitoring, Management Tools like Active Directory, GPOs, Ivanti.

• Capacity to Interact in a Project Environment, Willingness to Learn New Technologies.

• 5 Years Experience working in an Enterprise IT Environment.

• Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
