Mission and objectives

The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV) manages and implements the United Nations programme on the peaceful uses of outer space and supports UNOV/UNODC with various operational services.

As part of the United Nations Office at Vienna, the Information Technology Service (ITS) through its India Technology Hub (ITH) forms part of the ITS's vital delivery pillars in keeping with the UN's revised ICT strategy and is responsible for Information Technology Support, focusing on innovative, sustainable, affordable and robust digital solutions, cybersecurity measures and trainings to meet UNOV/UNODC requirements, also enabling availability of the solutions more generally across the UN Secretariat entities and beyond.

Context

Operating from New Delhi, India, ITH serves as the hub for UNOV/UNODC's global presence, and this assignment aims to increase awareness about the key projects and initiatives of ITH, leveraging digital and traditional media to ensure maximum visibility of the organization's work.

Task description

The Communications Assistant will work under the direct supervision of the Head – India Technology Hub and will be responsible for the following tasks:
• Content Creation and Management: Draft, edit, and produce content including press releases, social media posts, newsletters, and reports that communicate ITH’s activities and projects.
• Social Media and Digital Engagement: Implement and track the success of the organization’s social media strategy to improve audience engagement.
• Media Engagement and Event Support: Assist with press outreach, media monitoring, and preparing media materials for interviews, briefings, and conferences.
• Graphic Design and Visual Communication: Design visuals such as banners, brochures, and presentations to support communication efforts.
• Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain a communications calendar and ensure timely production and distribution of content.
• Other: Provide additional support to the communication team and undertake any related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
