This position is based at the ESA HQ - Paris, France

 

Within the Infrastructure & Value Chain Department, the CSG (Centre Spatial Guyanais) team ensures
 

  • the maintenance in operational conditions of the facilities and equipment of the CSG Range operated by CNES supported by European industry;
  • its enhancements (eg digitalization, greening, etc).

 

We follow-up the technical, the financial and the European industrial organization (for Geo return monitoring) fields (including setting up of contracts to Industry by CNES).

Field(s) of activity for the internship

Topic of the internship: Analysis of technical competencies for the Telemetry Stations and/or the Payloads Preparation Facilities (hereinafter referred to as EPCU, “Ensemble de Preparation des Charges Utiles” in French) and market studies
 

 After being instructed about the CSG Range, you will perform the following activities: 

  • Supporting the creation of a list of technical competencies needed for procurement opportunities at the CSG in with the peculiar focus on the ones related to the Telemetry Stations and/or the EPCU facilities; 
  • Performing market studies to identify new European (ESA MS) industrialists that possess competencies required by the CSG activities; elaborating related reports;
  • Liaising with the ESA Industrial Policy Officer in preparing the meetings with the identified new industrialists for CSG activities and in participating in the outreach and prospection activities for specific procurement activities at the CSG; supporting the preparation of CSG Industry Days;  
  • Mapping the industrialists profile; 
  • Updating the company database of European industrialists with the relevant competencies using the aforementioned results and supporting its further enhancements (eg. optimisation, dashboard extraction).

Education

You must be a university student, preferably in your final or second-to-last year of a university course at Master’s level and you need to remain enrolled at your University for the entire duration of the internship.

Additional requirements

The working languages of the Agency are English and French. A good knowledge of one of these is required. Knowledge of another Member State language would be an asset.

 

Knowledge and background in the following are an asset: 

  • Telecommunication/Telemetry/Electronics or Fluids process/mechanics;
  • Knowledge and background of IT tools such as Excel, Excel VBA, PowerBI.

Openness and relationship-building skills are essential to have.
