La misión fundamental de UNICEF es la de promover los derechos de los niños y niñas en todo aquello que la organización realiza en su vertiente programática u operacional. La estrategia de la equidad, que pone el énfasis en orientar recursos a los niños, niñas y las familias más desaventajadas y excluidas, es la que traduce este compromiso de UNICEF por los derechos del niño. Para UNICEF, la equidad significa que un niño tiene la oportunidad de sobrevivir, desarrollar y alcanzar su pleno potencial sin discriminación. Hay cada vez más datos que confirman que las inversiones en la salud, la educación y la protección de los ciudadanos más desaventajados de una sociedad, no solo ayudan al niño a desarrollar su potencial, pero contribuyen igualmente al desarrollo social y al crecimiento sostenible de los países. Por ello la focalización en la equidad es tan importante, ya que permite por un lado acelerar el progreso de los derechos de todos los niños, lo cual se sitúa en el centro del mandato de UNICEF y que se sustenta en la Convención de los Derechos de los Niños, y por otro lado ayuda al desarrollo con equidad de las naciones.

UNICEF trabaja en Venezuela desde 1967, ampliando progresivamente su apoyo tras la apertura de una Oficina de UNICEF en el país y la firma del primer acuerdo de cooperación entre Venezuela y UNICEF en 1991. UNICEF trabaja en colaboración con las autoridades nacionales y subnacionales nacionales y subnacionales, la sociedad civil, el mundo académico y el sector privado.

Context

As part of its resource mobilization strategy, UNICEF Venezuela plans to recruit a UNV- Reporting and Resource Mobilization Officer for the quality review of donor-related documents, including reports, communications/outreach pieces, and funding proposals. The UNV will also be tasked with developing donor profiles and various donor materials supporting UNICEF Venezuela’s Resource Mobilization strategy, such as interactive presentations and concept notes, and supporting preparation of donor events.

Overall, the Venezuela country office is looking for a young professional who can contribute to the production of high-quality results-based donor events and documents including reports, communications/outreach pieces, donor profiles, donor mapping, and funding proposals with contributions from the Health and Nutrition, Education, Child Protection, WASH, and Social Policy programmes, as well as supporting areas such as Budget, Communications and Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation.

The UN Volunteer will be hosted by UNICEF and will be based in Caracas, under the supervision of the Resource Mobilization Specialist (P-3).

In addition to duty station specific vaccine requirements, appointments are subject to confirmation of fully vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the appointment. It does not apply to UN Volunteers who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their contracts.

Task description

• Supporting Programme teams to produce high quality donor-related documents (including narrative, logical frameworks, budget, etc.) in a timely manner by internal deadlines. The format and type of documents might vary depending on donor requirements and recommendations from UNICEF global and regional offices. This includes reports for donors and project proposals.
• Developing analytical donor profiles and providing donor mapping inputs.
• Developing interactive Powerpoint presentations and technical and thematic concept notes.
• Supporting preparation of donor events such as field missions, meetings, and virtual activities.
• Translating documents from Spanish to English and from English to Spanish. A robust command of English and Spanish is required for this position (fluent)
• Proof-reading and cross-checking figures and references
• Checking documents for clarity and comprehension, respecting UNICEF terminology, grammatical and factual accuracy, and consistency with donor guidance, proposals and/or previous reports
• Submitting all documents in compliance with the available donor guidelines and UNICEF Brand and Style Books, including layout/formatting
• Archiving partnership documentation on Sharepoint (filing agreements, proposals, budgets, reports, and any other relevant documents) in an organized and user-friendly manner
• Performing other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
