Background of the project:

IRC is offering a robust humanitarian response to the Syria crisis a rapidly expanding portfolio, supported by more than 1000+ staff in Syria Country Program. IRC is undertaking programs in Syria and the neighboring countries of Turkey, Iraq, Lebanon, and Jordan in the fields of health, child protection, early childhood development, education, women’s protection, and empowerment, non-food items and food distribution, cash assistance, water and sanitation, protection and rule of law, and livelihood programming. Our work in these challenging settings gives rise to some of the most pressing issues facing contemporary humanitarian action, including questions of access, security, funding, and coordination.

As part of IRC Syria CP's capacity-sharing strategy and localization commitment, Syria CP supports its partners from local organizations across two hubs to develop their organizational systems, policies, and procedures.

Scope of work

The objective of this consultancy is to enhance IRC’s partners’ capacity in business development and proposal writing. The consultancy might include delivering a workshop and mentorship/coaching sessions. The participating organizations should develop the necessary skills to write a winning proposal, seize funding opportunities, and develop a strategic business development plan.

Deliverables:

·The consultant might deliver business development and fundraising training to IRC partners and the training subjects might include the following:

1.Proposal Writing

  •    Overview of funding sources: public/institutional, private donors, and international organizations.
  •    Trends and challenges in the current funding environment for NGOs in Syria.
  •    Understanding donor requirements and guidelines in proposal requests.
  •    Common pitfalls in proposal writing and how to avoid them.
  •    Using data and evidence effectively to support your proposal.

2.Business Development

  •    Key elements of a BD strategic plan.
  •    Aligning BD strategic plan with mission and vision.
  •    Donor engagement techniques.
  •    Translating strategic plans into operational plans.
  •    Developing action plans with clear roles and responsibilities.

·The consultant will use a combination of interactive presentations, case studies, practical examples, and group exercises. The Participants will have an opportunity to discuss ideas, apply skills, and engage in practical learning.

·The training Language is Arabic or English.

·The consultant might be assigned to work side by side with local NGOs to review and develop their internal HR policies based on the regulations of international European and American donors. In addition, the consultant might enhance local NGOs' systems and procedures according to best practices.

Reporting

·Training: The consultant will deliver a full training report describing the training agenda , applied training methodology, challenges, and lessons learned along with pre and pos technical evaluation and training satisfaction survey

·Mentoring sessions: the consultant will deliver a full report for each local organization describing the applied mentorship methodology, the number of provided sessions, organization’s statue, areas for improvement, and a list of developed systems, policies and procedures.

Payment Rate and Schedule:

•Detailed technical proposal describing the methodology and the topics which will be covered.

•Financial proposal describing the cost per working day ( 8 hours ) for in-person and online options.

•Name and contact details of three professional references related to a similar experience.

Timeline and Payment

The consultant will be responsible for all service expenses such as accommodation, transportation,

meals... etc.

IRC will handle all logistical expenses including venue, coffee breaks, lunch, and stationery.

The service should be delivered within 45 days starting from the day of signing the contract and

payment will be made upon completing the requested deliverables.


Minimum Qualifications:

Requirements:

•Bachelor's and preferably master’s degree in management, governance, business administration, NGOs management or any similar fields.

•More than 7 years of extensive experience in proposal writing and business development.

•Strong knowledge of the Syria context and donor landscape.

•Strong presentation, facilitation, and training skills.

•More than three years of experience in training and coaching.

•Fluency in English is required, Arabic is an advantage
