Overview of position

The ongoing Syrian conflict has entered its 14th year, resulting prolonged displacement, increased vulnerabilities & substantial funding reductions. In response, our client in Türkiye recognizes the need to reassess its operational response strategies in North West (NW) Syria based on its comparative advantages. This strategy paper outlines our client in Turkiye's cross border program's strategic priorities, operational modalities & key enablers to deliver evidence based multisectoral life saving & early recovery interventions with the aim of facilitating durable solutions. Through needs based settlement approaches, localization, stronger physical presence, innovative capacity strengthening & investments in risk management, centrality of protection & AAP support, our client aims to effectively address the complex humanitarian challenges in NW Syria, contributing to the overall strategic objectives of the Syria HRP 2024 & our clients Türkiye mission strategy 2024 - 2028 with specific focus on:

  • Saving lives & protecting people on the move.

  • Driving solutions to internal displacement.

Role objectives

The Field Liaison & Coordination Officers will represent our client in key locations Nort West Syria. They will have the primary role:

  • To develop & maintain close relationships with local authorities & local stakeholders, including partners.

  • To conduct security analysis of the situation on the ground.

  • To provide our client with timely information to support improving our clients programming & better targeting of activities, while also ensuring that our client is constantly on top of latest events / developments.

Expected outputs:

  • Develop solid relationships with local authorities in view of improving our clients knowledge regarding security matters & humanitarian priorities.

  • Advice the HoO in Gaziantep on needs & vulnerabilities faced by IDPs in the areas under their purview in NWS.

  • Promptly inform our client regarding latest political & security developments affecting the areas under their purview, with the view to inform programming & access considerations.

  • Establish productive relationships with local implementing partners & ensure effective information flow between the different parties.

Project reporting

The Field Liaison & Coordinator Officer is requested to send biweekly reports to the HoO in Gaziantep or ad hoc if required depending on thematic requests & they will entertain monthly calls with senior staff in Ankara.
