About the Role:

The Accounting Finance Manager is a hands-on leader of the finance function for the country. We’re looking for a mission-oriented leader eager to improve and automate processes within the finance and accounting department to support the planned scale up across Mali. You are someone who is detail oriented, a great communicator and likes to develop their team to perform at the best.

You Will:

  • Manage, train, and supervise team members in processing payroll, and internal controls related to Financial Reporting, Labor Accounting, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Project Accounting and Invoicing, Fixed Assets, Inventory, and Tax Compliance.
  • Preparing timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting and OHADA.
  • Ensuring payroll and contractor payments are processed in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Ensuring that Accounts Payable are reviewed, approved, properly accounted for, and paid in a timely manner.
  • Managing myAgro’s project accounting processes and ensuring that grant contract costs are properly accounted for and billed. 
  • Working with global finance to ensure accounting processes are compliant with US GAAP and USAID requirements. 
  • Work closely with the Country Director to achieve the financial goals for the year by providing reporting, data and recommendations based on your financial insights. 
  • Recommend and implement improved financial and internal controls and ensure compliance by providing training, feedback and reporting to the Country Director and Regional Finance manager. 
  • Manage the year end audit and statutory filings incl. tax filings in Mali.
  • Collaborate with other departments on cross-functional projects. 

 

You Have:

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) or more years of experience as a senior accountant or senior auditor in an accounting or auditing firm. Holder of the DSC (Diplôme Supérieur Comptable), DESCOGEF, or CPA (Expert Comptable).
  • Experience leading the month-end close process, and producing monthly financial statements.
  • Experience managing and developing a team as well as implementing process & system improvements.
  • Experience effectively communicating & presenting cross functionally as well as to various levels of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
  • Fluency in French, Proficiency in English.
