The Scope
We are looking for an engaged Supply Chain Support and Development Manager who brings solid expertise in forest related supply chains and a passion for FSC’s mission, within the Adria-Balkan Team.

The Manager will technically support and develop forests-based supply chain in 6 countries (Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia and Montenegro) regarding FSC certification solutions (Forest Management and Chain of Custody) and alignment with EU regulations.

The Manager will operate in close cooperation with relevant local stakeholders from the forestry and paper/wood, public, private, NGO sector and under supervision of the National Representative and in coordination with Team’s members.
Main Roles & Responsibilities
  • To provide necessary technical guidance and support for existing and potential clients of FSC solutions (Forest Management and Chain of Custody; and supporting   Promotional License Agreements and Ecosystem Verification where requested).
  • To provide necessary technical guidance and support for existing and potential clients of FSC solutions specifically designed to comply with European and international legality and deforestation/degradation free policies, like EUDR (FSC Aligned, FSC Trace, FSC Risk Hub).
  • To support FSC International colleagues on ongoing processes and projects active in the A-B region.  
  • To provide or coordinate the translation of relevant documents into the local languages of the A-B region.  
  • Where necessary, to represent FSC at technical events, workshops, or seminars in the Region, in coordination with the National Representative.  
  • To collaborate in organizing events, workshops, or seminars, for relevant clients and stakeholders in the A-B region.  
  • To collaborate in monitoring media and sentiments about the impact of FSC in the A-B region.
  • To report on the media crisis to the National Representative and other relevant colleagues.
  • To participate as authorized observer during FM and COC audits or ASI surveillances of CHs and CBs operations in the A-B region.
  • Any other task as assigned by formal supervisor and project work as assigned according to special organizational needs.
Your profile
Education and Training:  
  • University degree preferably in forestry or wood processing, supply chain management or an equivalent combination of education/vocational training and work experience relevant for the roles and responsibilities of this function. 
  • Basic knowledge of forest management and chain of custody/traceability certification schemes and related tools.  
 
Working Experience, Style and Skills:  
  • At least 3 years of professional experience in FSC certification of forest management and related supply chains, Due Diligence Statements and in EU regulations implementation. 
  • Sound understanding of the scope of FSC’s programs and activities, policies, and standards. 
  • A practical understanding of EUDR Regulation and its impact on European and non-European Union timber industry and forest managers.
  • Understanding of the forest product value chain needs and market forces.
  • Good time management and multitasking skills. 
  • Ability to work independently and remotely and to achieve agreed objectives.
  • Service-oriented attitude to work and a keen sense of diligence and accuracy. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
 
Language & Communication Skills: 
  • Exemplary verbal and written communication skills that contribute to cohesive team efforts and decision making. 
  • Capacity to understand and use forestry related basic technical language.
  • Fluency in at least two of the following regional languages: Croatian (spoken and written), Serbian (with knowledge of Cyrillic alphabet), Bosnian or Slovenian. 
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
 
Digital Skills  
Good skills in the use of/experience with: 
  • Standard software packages (MS Office). 
Knowledge of management platforms is a bonus, like:  
  • CRM (Customer Relations Management systems) 
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) 
Adaptive to use and discover new technological solutions.  

Others: 
  • Experience in working in a multi-cultural, multi-lingual, global team. 
  • Experience in working in / with an NGO or Non-Profit Organization. 
  • Commitment to FSC’s mission and values. 
  • Demonstrated cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diversity of values, views and approaches to issues relevant to the FSC program by stakeholders around the world. 
  • Familiarity at the general level with the scope of FSC’s programs. 
  • Ability to represent FSC through his/her work with exemplary personal and professional authority and conduct. 
  • Possession of driving license and availability of a car to travel within the countries of the region, if required and convenient.

The Fine Print
  • Location: preferably in Croatia, Serbia or Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Working Hours: Full time - 40 hours per week
  • Employment: Service and License Agreement
  • Duration of Employment: 2 years (extension possible, subject to satisfactory performance).
  • Starting Date: As soon as possible.
  • Periodical travel might be required.
