UNDP’s mandate is to end poverty, build democratic governance, rule of law, and inclusive institutions. We advocate for change, and connect countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life.

Context

UNDP has been working in India since 1951 in almost all areas of human development, from systems and institutional strengthening to inclusive growth and sustainable livelihoods, sustainable energy, environment and resilience. It has supported the development of strong policies and continues to integrate a global vision of catalytic change with India’s national priorities. UNDP contributions to the development sector has showed strong results aligned to the development vision of Government. Through its work on inclusive and equitable growth, UNDP support led to greater access to national programmes for vulnerable and marginalized populations, improved livelihoods, skills building for women and innovative partnerships.
