Gender and Humanitarian Action Associate

ONU Mujeres es la entidad de las Naciones Unidas dedicada a promover la igualdad de género y el empoderamiento de las mujeres. Fue establecida para acelerar el progreso que conlleve a mejorar las condiciones de vida de las mujeres y responder a las necesidades que enfrentan en el mundo. Desde su creación, ONU Mujeres se ha financiado principalmente gracias a la aportación de Gobiernos socios compro-metidos por hacer de la igualdad de género y el empoderamiento de las mujeres una prioridad mundial.

ONU Mujeres apoya a los Estados Miembros de las Naciones Unidas en el establecimiento de normas internacionales para lograr la igualdad de género y trabaja con los gobiernos y la sociedad civil en la creación de leyes, políticas, programas y servicios necesarios para garantizar que se implementen los estándares con eficacia y que redunden en verdadero beneficio de las mujeres y las niñas en todo el mundo. Trabaja mundialmente para que los Objetivos de Desarrollo Sostenible sean una realidad para las mujeres y las niñas, y promueve la participación de las mujeres en igualdad de condiciones en todos los ámbitos de la vida.

ONU Mujeres ha trabajado en Colombia desde el año 2005. Su presencia está orientada por su Nota Estratégica Global y los marcos de cooperación de Naciones Unidas y la Entidad con el Gobierno Colombiano, integrando los elementos particulares del contexto, las prioridades nacionales y locales, así como las necesidades e intereses de las mujeres al desarrollo de su triple mandato.

En concordancia con las prioridades nacionales y los instrumentos internacionales de protección de los derechos humanos de las mujeres, las líneas estrategias de intervención de ONU Mujeres en Colombia se enmarcan en las tres prioridades de cooperación identificadas por el Gobierno y el SNU: a) Estabilización: “Paz con Legalidad”, b) Migración como factor de desarrollo; y, c) Asistencia técnica para la aceleración de ODS catalizadores.

A young professional in gender and humanitarian action is required for the UN Women Sub-Office in Nariño. This individual should possess specific skills and capabilities to provide support, advice, monitoring, and follow-up on implemented activities, in coordination with local women's organizations, relevant local institutions, international organizations, and United Nations System Agencies present in the department of Nariño and the corresponding humanitarian architecture.

The UN Volunteer will technically support the development of activities within the humanitarian and migration portfolio projects, whose main objective is to reduce the vulnerability to specific protection risks for more women and girls in situations of human mobility in the border area or victims of armed conflict. This will be achieved by applying gender, ethnic, migration, and intersectional approaches in the prioritized Colombian territories of Ipiales and Pasto.

Under the direct supervision of the Official UN Women Sub-office Nariño, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:

1. Support the development of various programmatic and advocacy activities of the UN Women Sub-Office in Nariño to improve access to institutional and community protection mechanisms for women and girls victims of armed conflict and human mobility.

2. Accompany the development of activities, ensuring the application of gender, ethnic, age, migration, and intersectional approaches.

3. Develop agendas, methodologies, minutes, and meeting reports for various spaces as required, both at the national and binational levels.

4. Contribute to dialogue and coordination with various civil society organizations, especially those representing migrant women, victims of armed conflict, and host communities.

5. Participate in and support, under the supervision of territorial focal points and technical professionals, in various inter-agency coordination spaces and institutional coordination present in the territory to address migration, humanitarian action, and the prevention of gender-based violence and human trafficking, especially for sexual exploitation purposes.

6. Assist in the management of gender-based violence (GBV) alert information in the department of Nariño, with special emphasis on the Pacific and border regions.
