Mission and objectives

The United Nations Population Fund is the UN agency which leads global efforts to help ensure that every pregnancy is wanted, every birth is safe, and every young person's potential is fulfilled.
UNFPA’s programmes work to ensure that women, adolescents, young people and marginalized populations, including Persons with Disabilities (PWD), are empowered to make decisions regarding their sexual and reproductive health and rights and able to live free of discrimination and violence.

Context

UNFPA is the lead UN agency for delivering a world where every pregnancy is wanted, every childbirth is safe and every young person's potential is fulfilled. UNFPA’s new strategic plan (2022-2025), focuses on three transformative results: to end preventable maternal deaths; end unmet need for family planning; and end gender-based violence and harmful practices. In a world where fundamental human rights are at risk, we need principled and ethical staff, who embody these international norms and standards, and who will defend them courageously and with full conviction. Information and data management is a crucial aspect of the program delivery, both for humanitarian and development components. Information and data management covers the assessment, design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of data and statistical related activities. This includes assessment of the information landscape; definition of information and data needs; design of data and information activities, including data collection, analysis, storage and dissemination; implementation of data and information management activities; and monitoring and evaluation of data management activities. It is needed to deliver robust and comprehensive assessments and evaluations, and to support results-based planning, monitoring and reporting of the programs implemented by UNFPA and its partners. For this purpose, support from three National UNV Information Management Assistant, assigned for Humanitarian, Gender/GBV, and RH, is needed. The National UNVs will be joining the dynamic Humanitarian Cluster of UNFPA Afghanistan, and taking part in humanitarian coordination, information management and M&E.
