Context

The IT Technical Writer and Policy Assistant will support the DTS team in creating and managing a structured framework for IT policy documents. This includes rewriting and reformatting existing policies, procedures, and standards to align with best practices and organizational templates. The volunteer will also assist in maintaining the existing document repositories on platforms such as Teams, SharePoint, and/or OneDrive, ensuring easy access and reference. Additionally, the volunteer will update relevant SharePoint sites, create links to the knowledge base (ServiceNow), and perform other tasks to support comprehensive documentation for IT policies, standards, guidance notes, and other related documents.

Task description

Technical Writing:

• Create first drafts of key IT policy documents, ensuring they align with UNAIDS' objectives and industry best practices.
• Review and analyse existing IT policies, procedures, and standards for clarity, consistency, and compliance with best practices.
• Rewrite and reformat documents to align with UNAIDS templates and branding guidelines.
• Ensure all documentation is accessible, user-friendly, and suitable for a diverse, global audience.

Document Management:

• Develop and manage a structured framework for organizing IT policy documents.
• Maintain the centralized document repository using Teams, SharePoint, or OneDrive.
• Implement version control and document management best practices to maintain document integrity.
