Overview

The Data Analyst Specialist for the SEMBE II Project will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and interpreting data related to National Malaria Control Program. The incumbent will be involved in ensuring data quality, supporting evidence-based decision-making, and contributing to the project’s monitoring and evaluation activities. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, experience with health data, and a commitment to improving public health outcomes.

The Data Analyst would also be responsible for ensuring data quality and following up on problematic data to both improve quality and troubleshoot problems encountered in the information system. Some travel within the region is expected in order to work with health facility staff.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, clean, and maintain datasets related to malaria prevention, morbidities and mortalities.
  • Ensure dataset is continuously updated with accurate information
  • Establish mechanisms for timely data collection from health facilities/district health information systems
  • Develop data visualizations (charts, graphs, dashboards using PowerBI or Tableau) to communicate findings effectively.
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy by implementing data quality assurance processes.
  • Conduct in-depth data analyses using advanced statistical methods and tools to datasets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations related to malaria incidence, treatment outcomes, and program impact.
  • Assist health facilities in streamlining data collection for both project data and their professional data reporting systems
  • Collaborate with M&E Officer and program staff, identify programmatic successes, challenges and lessons learned for reporting
  • Assist as needed in aspects of workplan and budget preparation, results reporting, materials development that relate to the information system.
  • Train project staff and partners on data collection, management, and analysis techniques.
  • Prepare detailed reports, summaries, and presentations based on data analysis.
  • Document data management and analysis processes to ensure reproducibility and transparency.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with focus on public health, epidemiology, statistics, or related social science
  • 3-5 years of experience working with international or local donor, aid, or development agency in Data Analysis or Monitoring and Evaluation of health programs
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize databases (Access preferred)
  • Data analysis skills, using one or more statistical software packages, including at least one of the following: SPSS, Epi-Info, Stata
  • Strong skills in data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience in designing data collection systems in the health sector
  • Familiarity with DHIS2 and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an asset.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in Frensh or English
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
