Context

The position is located in FAO’s Representation in Tajikistan. Cooperation between Tajikistan and FAO has been ongoing since the country joined the Organization in 1995. FAO assistance was initially provided in the form of short-term emergency interventions as well as support for the country’s transition to stability after a period of civil war. More recently, cooperation has focused on rehabilitation and development interventions to build a sustainable and competitive agriculture sector, including improved food security and nutrition, and resilience to climate change.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of the FAO Representative, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks:
Provide support with the implementation of digital agriculture and innovation projects at FAO-Tajikistan by closely coordinating and collaborating with Country Office colleagues, partners, service providers and specialists at the FAO Regional Office for Europe and Central Asia and the Subregional Office for Central Asia. In particular:
• Assist in the implementation of digital agriculture and innovation projects in Tajikistan by gathering and analysing data and information, preparing reports, conducting stake-holder interviews, in close collaboration with project teams
• Support policy analysis and research on technology and innovation adoption among farmers in Tajikistan, identifying barriers and opportunities for FAO programme in the country;
• Contribute to developing and maintaining solid relationships with relevant government ministries and agencies, development partners, NGOs, and private sector entities in-volved in digital agriculture and innovation;
• Assist in communication and outreach efforts by creating and disseminating advoca-cy material (news, articles, stories, leaflets, etc.) on FAO’s digital agriculture and inno-vation work; ;
• Contribute to resource mobilisation efforts by supporting liaison with donors/resource partners and byhelping in the preparation of concept notes and designing projects;
• Provide support in the organization of meetings, workshops, webinars, and other events that may arise in connection with digital agriculture and innovation projects;
• Perform other related duties as required.
