The Adult Education Program intern will support
overall adult education team services and programs, with a primary focus in
direct service support to refugee clients coming through the Reception and
Placement program. The intern will
provide support to newly arrived families and individuals with cultural
orientation implementation, public transportation training, job readiness
training, citizenship readiness classes and curriculum creation for digital
literacy and citizenship classes. The intern will support the adult education
team with creating client-facing materials such as videos, or written content.
The intent of the internship is to provide a capacity building opportunity for
the team to guarantee that all adult clients have access to the information and
resources they need to navigate their new communities.Some of the responsibilities may include:
Direct service support with adult refugee individuals and families
Education assessment intake, connection to English learning resources
Cultural Orientation and Job Readiness Training support
Content creation of client facing materials.
Public transportation training to clients
Curriculum creation support
Minimum Qualifications:
Preferred Skills:
Undergraduate or graduate student, or professional with learning objectives
Ability to work in person and drive clients with personal vehicle and insurance.
Strong communication skills and comfort working with Microsoft platforms.
Previous experience working with individuals and families in direct service.
Organized for record keeping of case notes, client calls, and service documentation
Education Background
Compassion, patience, and cultural humility working with newcomer families.
Knowledge of a refugee language highly recommended: Spanish, Dari, Arabic, Swahili, and more.
