  1. Role and responsibilities

The main responsibility of the Education officer is to contribute to the quality in the implementation of the education projects.

 

Generic responsibilities 

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines.
  2. Implement delegated Education project portfolio according to plan of action
  3. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management in accordance with internal deadlines
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents 
  5. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement
  6. Ensure regular information sharing with program team.
  7. Contribute to implementation of Safe and Inclusive Programming Minimum Standards across the area of work.
  8. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and asses new and better ways to assist

 

 

Specific responsibilities 

  1. Ensure minimum 80% of the time participating in project field activities
  2. Participate in team planning, regular meetings, and M&E activities in coordination with the Project Coordinator  (including FGD, pre-assessment, post-assessment, research & evaluations taking place during the course of the year etc.)
  3. Based on needs assessment results, work closely with school management, Site/Shelter Management teaching and non-teaching staff, facilitators/ Contingent Workerson designing, planning and implementing project related activities
  4. Implement, follow up, and supervise the project implementation in assigned schools/ IDP Sites closely with school/ Site management and supervisors/Master Trainers
  5. Observe teachers/Facilitators, Contingent Workers/counsellors’ performance to ensure project activities are implemented according to quality standards and provide structured feedback in line with a training plan based on gaps identified
  6. Ensure keeping accurate records of project data for assigned schools/ Sites (KoBO data entry, targets, assessments, beneficiaries, pictures, beneficiaries’ feedback etc.)
  7. Prepare, revise, and develop teaching/non-teaching staff/ facilitators, contingent workers training materials/packages based on needs/gaps identified and lead/facilitate the required training sessions/workshops for teaching and non-teaching staff/ facilitators, contingent workers in target schools/IDP sites, in a collaboration with schools’/ sites’ management
  8. Implement awareness sessions for parents and teaching staff/ facilitators, contingent workers in assigned schools/ sites
  9. Develop individual work plan to address the needs of the target groups to be shared with PC
  10. Collaborate with partners in the implementation of approved activities and ensure their implementation is in accordance with the agreed plan
  11. Follow up on seconded counsellors’/facilitators, contingent workers performance attendance and commitment in assigned schools/ IDP sites, and provide needed technical and logistical support
  12. Provide self-care guidance to school staff/ facilitators, contingent workers, parents, and local partners
  13. Prepare purchase requisition according to approved activities plan, budget, procurement and requests from PC.
  14. Undertake any other reasonable task assigned by management

  1. Competencies

  • Experience working at project officer level in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • Good knowledge of English 

 

Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience: 

  • Relevant tertiary education, bachelor’s degree in education
  • At least 3 years’ experience in education in emergencies, psycho-educational and/or social emotional programming 
  • Experience in education pedagogical techniques and psycho-educational capacity building techniques 
  • Experience in participatory approaches to aid and development programming
  • Fluency in Arabic, both written and verbal 
  • Good command in English, both writing and verbal

 Additional Information:

Contract duration: Open End.

Working hours: 40 hours/week, Sun-Thu (5 days per week)

Salary/benefits: According to NRC’s salary scale and terms and conditions

Duty station: Gaza (open to Gaza strip residents only)
