The Trade and Agriculture Directorate (TAD), in line with the strategic objectives of the Secretary-General, provides relevant and timely information, analysis and advice in support of governments’ efforts to improve the domestic and international performance of their trade, agriculture, food and fishery policies and to maintain the orderly use of export credits. 

The OECD Trade and Agriculture Directorate (TAD) is looking for a digital savvy communications coordinator with a track record of successfully developing content and engaging with diverse audiences. In this job, the selected candiate will assist in the preparation and dissemination of communications that promote the Directorate’s rich variety of insightful content on trade, agriculture and fisheries. The selected candidate will support the Directorate’s external outreach and the Director’s Office’s communications priorities.

As part of TAD’s Communications Team in our Paris headquarters, the role reports to the Communications Manager. The selected candidate will work closely and collaboratively across the Directorate and support team-wide initiatives. S/he will actively participate in horizontal communications initiatives involving the Directorate for Communications (COM) and other Directorates.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities

Co-ordination and liaison

  • Assist the Communications Manager in co-ordinating impactful communications for TAD publications, events and other key moments, as well as TAD’s contributions to OECD corporate communication efforts.
  • Liaise with project leads and analysts across the Directorate to ensure effective communications planning from publication preparation to dissemination.
  • Update and maintain the TAD communication calendar and brief colleagues accordingly.
  • Liaise with counterparts in the Communications Directorate (COM) as needed, to ensure TAD communications and outputs are in-line with organisation-wide standards and featured on corporate channels.
  • Act as the second point of contact for TAD communications, and replace the Communications Manager during absences.

Message development and content creation

  • Increase the accesibility of the Directorate’s work by breaking down complex policy and data analysis into high-quality, jargon-free and clear key messages.
  • In co-ordination with the Communications Manager and collaboration with analysts, support the preparation of,  proofread and publish a variety of written content to support communications and outreach efforts, including policy briefs, blogs and articles, website copy, newsletters and video scripts.
  • In collaboration with analysts, ensure that TAD’s web pages are regularly updated and that web content meets quality standards (e.g. style, consistency, relevance, accuracy, discoverability).
  • Support the development of messaging and campaigns for social media and newsletters.
  • Assist in the preparation of visual content, including infographics and promotional images.

Reporting, analysis and optimisation

  • Contribute to periodic and ad hoc reporting, drawing out key qualitative insights on TAD communications.
  • Regularly integrate key findings to optimise TAD’s communications content and overall approach.

Qualifications

Ideal Candidate Profile

Academic Background

  • A university degree in communications, journalism or a related field.

Professional Background

  • A minimum of 2-3 years experience in a communications role with similar responsibilities, preferably in an international environment.
  • Excellent editorial skills and experience writing messages for different audiences and presenting information in a clear, accessible and compelling way. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) best practices and knowledge of how to optimise digital content for increased visibility online.
  • Experience in one of the areas of TAD expertise would be a plus.

Tools

  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365, including standard software but also Teams, Tasks and Planner.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative suite and other web-based graphic design tools (ie. Adobe Express, Canva, etc.) an advantage.

Languages

  • Fluency in one of the two OECD official languages (English and French) and knowledge of the other, with a commitment to reach a good working level.
  • Knowledge of other languages would be an asset.

Contract Duration

  • One-year fixed term appointment, with the possibility of renewal.

Selection Process

For retained candidates, written tests/video-recorded interviews are foreseen in October 2024 and panel interviews are planned in November 2024.
