Consultancy role title: Education & Training Consultant for Nursing and Midwifery Program

Department/Project: USAID MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership program (MCGL) Rwanda)

Consultant Reports To: MCGL Technical Director/ DCOP

Location: Kigali, Rwanda with frequent field travels

Period: Six Month from October 2023-March 2025; Six working days per month which is 36 days in total.

 

Jhpiego Rwanda, through MOMENTUM Country and Global Leadership program (MCGL) HRH- USAID funded project is hiring one , Education and Training Consultant for Nursing and Midwifery  program  (Consultancy for 6months) who will works on results 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the MCGL Project,  mainly  increased availability of nurses and midwives, improved quality of midwifery training, and program learning and research. Accordingly, s/he provides support to ensure training of nurses and midwives follows evidence-based and standard education and training approaches within selected institutions (East African Christian College and Kibogora Polytechnic. S/he is also expected to maintain excellent relationships with government and partners, in particular work very closely with MOH, Universities, High Education Council (HEC), and professional associations.

Responsibilities

  • Key deliverables: Provide support to ensure training of health professionals follows evidence-based and standard education and training approaches and advise on faculty training
  • Participate in the Improvement of working capacity of regulatory
  • Work with the MOH, in outcomes-based in nursing and midwifery curriculum strengthening and faculty development for teaching/training institutions
  • Support teaching/training institutions in the content analysis/review, design, development, implementation and evaluation curriculum.
  • Promote and provide technical support to institutions to conduct regular self-review of academic programs and utilize the assessment results to address gaps in quality of health
  • Work with health training institutions to improve the use of learning through availing standardized skills
  • Assist MCGL team to strengthen pedagogic and technical skills of faculty through short term training courses
  • Assess the ongoing needs in both technical assistance and material supplies in health training institutions
  • Work jointly with Technical Director for planning and scheduling of
  • Provide regular reports on program and work progress to the team
  • Work closely with Senior PSE Advisor, Q.A Technical Advisor, PSE Technical Coordinator and M&E officer to monitor program outputs and results related to pre-service education and compile additional documentation, such as case studies or special reports, program learning, research manuscripts when indicated.

Required Qualifications

  • Holder of at least A0 in Nursing and/or Midwifery with a Postgraduate Degree or equivalent qualification in Education
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in higher education system
  • Proven records on ability to conduct competency-based training and curriculum strengthening
  • Effective communication in English (written and oral) with strong presentation and writing skills
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with national and international staff and partners, and
  • Computer Literacy (Word, Excel and power point)
  • Ability to travel up to 60% of the time.
