Background

OBJECTIVES OF THE UNDERTAKING.

  1. To review the current practice, curriculum and modules in the areas of life and employability skills.
  2. To design/adapt module for provision of life and employability skills that serve young peoples.
  3. To provide ToT based on the adapted training module for potential trainers.

 

Scope of Work.

  • Review the current practice of Job searching & employability skills provision for young peoples. The review result shall indicate Modalities and modules that are currently in place for the provision of Job searching & employability skills and life skills trainings.
  • Adopt/design appropriate module for the provision Job searching & employability skills and life skills trainings
  • Review best available and tested Job searching & employability skills and life skills training modules that have been used and tested before.
  • Adopt the modules for young people that apply active methodology, youth friendly and gender sensitive approaches.
  • Design capacity building training for trainers to properly cascade the module. The trainings shall include, but not limited to:

METHODOLOGY.

  • Desk review of relevant curriculum, modules, manuals in the provision of life and employability skills trainings
  • Review of relevant research and studies on the area
  • Interviews with relevant stakeholders and project staffs
  • Application of appropriate curriculum review and module adaptation procedures

KEY DELIVERABLES.

  • Inception report: detailing the methodology and procedures to follow in the review of current context, adoption of manuals and capacity building trainings. The proposed approach shall be approved by project staff of the SOSCVE before commencement to the undertaking.
  • Share draft report of the review for discussion by project staff of the SOSCVE and relevant actors to incorporating suggestions and recommendations to develop the module.
  • First draft version of the module.
  • Present the draft module for validation by relevant actors and incorporate comments. A second round of revision may be required before the final version of the final report and final version of modules can be produced.
  • Provide capacity building training on the developed module to target trainers.
  • A final copy of the module (one electronic copy in PDF Format and one in DOC format). The final copy shall be approved by SOS CVE’s communication department before printing.
  • An electronic copy of all data collection tools and the study data set.
  • Training report shall be submitted incorporating all the required data (one electronic copy in PDF Format and one in DOC format)

  • SOSCVE has Zero tolerance for any safeguarding concerns and provides proper response to any reported safeguarding concerns. Hence, the consultant/firms shall ensure that its employees/collaborators as well as any other person involved in the implementation of the present contract, comply with the safeguarding policies and regulations. Therefore, potential winner (firms/individuals)
  • Complies with the rules and principles set out in the policies and regulations annexed to agreement made.
  • Confirms that none of its employees, collaborators or associates are involved and/or have been involved in any way in violence, abuse, fraud, and corruption.
  • Accepts proven material breach of any provision of the Child and Youth Safeguarding Policy, the Code of Conduct, Sexual Misconduct Regulation, Anti-Fraud and Anti-Corruption regulation shall automatically render agreement entered null and void and shall expose the perpetrator to legal action.

DURATION OF THE ASSIGMENT.

  • The duration of the assignment will be 25 days from the date of signing the contracts agreement. All activities including providing ToT training will be done within this specific timetable. This included number of off-days.

PAYMENT PROCEDURE.

Applicant contracting firms are expected to submit their financial proposal (inclusive VAT and any other applicable Tax) for the entire assignment.  All VAT and TAX amounts will be deducted from the total amount as per Government Regulations. The consultant/consultant firm will be paid in phases upon completion and submission of key deliverables. The payment schedule will be as follows:

  • 30% of the contract will be paid to the contracting firm up on signing of the agreement
  • 30 % of the contract will be paid upon submission of first draft report and completion of validation sessions.
  • 40 % of the payment will be retained and will be paid immediately after approval of the final report and related deliverables.

Ethical Standards.

SOS CVE is a child focused Organization and will always uphold the safety and wellbeing of    children as it strives towards creating a better environment for children and their surrounding community. In ensuring this, SOS CVE will only consider those who are suitable to work with children and youths. The selected contracting firm will sign the code of conduct or child protection policy of SOS CVs before the commencement of the work

Disclaimer.

SOSCVE is under no obligation to award to the lowest or highest or any bidder at all and may cancel the whole/part process when deems fit without giving further justification. Applications shall not be returned beyond the stipulated time.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERTISE REQUIRED.  

  • Post-graduate degree in Curriculum development, Social Sciences, Business, Economics or related fields.
  • Minimum of 8 years relevant professional experience in curriculum design or review, soft skills, business management and or entrepreneurship modules design and or appraisal.
  • Strong background and experience in training design and implementation.
  • Technical expertise in assessing curriculum, module development, and or adoption particularly related to life and employability skills.
  • Strong knowledge to the educational and training policy of the country particularly the of TVET and higher education programs is essential.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.

 

Candidates interested in the position are expected to provide the following documentation:

  • A technical proposal with detailed response to the TOR, with specific focus on the scope of work, methodology to be used and key selection criteria for respondents.
  • Initial work plan based on methodology outlined, and indication of availability
  • A financial proposal detailing the daily rate expected and other mode of payment
  • A copy of consultant/firm registration renewed for the current Ethiopian fiscal year.
  • Signed CV of the Team Leader
  • A copy of Tax clearance certificate
  • VAT/TOT registration
  • Resume of the firm, copies of credentials, renewed license and TIN number.
  • Detailed CV of the consultant firm with full description of the profile and experience
  • At least three certificates or recognitions of similar tasks previously conducted
  • A cover letter outlining the suitability of consultant or consultant firm for the assignment, motivation and summarizing relevant experience.
