Context

The Domestic Programming Unit of WFP China enhances the impact of WFP's mission and work in China through its support to the Government of China to develop long-term approaches and mechanisms for solving relative poverty and multi-dimensional poverty and strengthen the connection between poverty alleviation and rural revitalization.

Task description

Under the primary supervision of the Head of Domestic Programme, the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Assist programme team to prepare concept note and project proposals for donor funding support; • Support documenting project best practices and experience and evidence generation; • Contribute to the effort of amplyfing impact and result of domestic projects to the internal and external partners with powerful communication tools and platform; • Assist to collect data and other information on food, agriculture and rural economic subject matters, and prepare background information for briefing and review sessions; • Provide support for incoming visits and meetings, including setting up agenda, contacting and liaising counterparts and other logistic support; • Perform translation for key messages and reports; Furthermore, UNVs are encouraged to: • Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and taking an active part in UNV activities (for in-stance, IVD celebration events); • Get acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country; • Reflect on the type and quality of voluntary action that they are undertaking; • Contribute news and articles on field experiences and submit them to UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.; • Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly arrived UNV volunteers; • Promote online volunteering and encourage individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering Service whenever technically feasible.
