CIMMYT seeks a Communication Coordinator who will be working for Cereal Systems Initiative for South Asia-Mechanization and Extension Activity (CSISA-MEA).

This position will be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh with frequent field visits.

Duties and Responsabilities:

  • Lead communication and knowledge dissemination initiatives for CSISA-MEA.
  • Develop creative concepts and promote the work of CSISA-MEA.
  • Coordinate with supervisor to create and implement an annual communication calendar.
  • Document and communicate project news, updates and stories for wider dissemination.
  • Document stories for dissemination in suitable formats (interviews, photographs, video) to target audiences in coordination with project lead.
  • Assist technical people in preparing scientific posters, presentations, and other materials.
  • Support networking and engagement activities with other actors in Bangladesh – as a specific contribution to the projects’ wider alignment and scaling objectives in coordination with supervisor.
  • Oversee the activities related to the production of high quality communications materials, including, digital content, reports and reviews, newsletters ,publications, press releases, website content, annual reports, speeches, and other material that communicates the organization's activities, products and/or services, etc...
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with journalists and maintain local media and media database as assigned by supervisor.
  • Proficiency in design and publishing software.
  • Work with printing house, media house, television channel or radio.
  • Management of online supporters through social media under the guidance of supervisor.
  • Manage photo and video content.
  • Perform other duties as directed by supervisor.
  • Master’s degree in Communication, Media & Journalism, English Language, or Social Science.
  • At least 5-6 years of experience working in NGO/UN/research organization’s media and communication.
  • Experience working in USAID-funded projects.
  • Support developing content for promotional materials, including electronic newsletters, websites, social media, and blogs.
  • Relevant professional certification or portfolio in designing and media communication.
  • Basic knowledge of and skills in desktop publishing, HTML, photography, and photo editing.
  • Ability to work independently and within teams.
  • Possess skills in initiating innovative ideas and accurately judging what will appeal to target audiences.
  • Excellent writing ability (English and Bangla).
  • Ability to collect and synthesize information from diverse sources.
  • Must be creative and resourceful.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Experience using social media: Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Instagram.
  • Skills in PowerPoint, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are extremely useful.
  • The selected candidate requires the following competencies: Team Leadership, Negotiation, Resolution, Client Orientation, Critical Thinking, Problem Solving.

The position is for Bangladesh Nationals for an initial fixed-term contract of 1-year with 3 months probationary period, which further employment is subject to performance and the continued availability of funds.
