Since the start of the war in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Malteser International has been working with three local partner organizations in the sector of mental health and psycho-social support (MHPSS). As a result of the Russian attack in February 2022, Malteser International has expanded its humanitarian activities in Ukraine with a strong partner focus to include relief distributions in war-affected areas – winterization – a scale-up of Mental Health and Psycho-social support – as well as social support and cohesion.

In support of the current program implementation and to reinforce the capacities of our local partners in Ukraine, Malteser International is looking for a Logistics Manager. 

This position is open for both international and national applications from Ukraine. As Logistics Manager, you will lead and manage the logistics and procurement related tasks of the Malteser International Programme in Ukraine. You will provide technical support to partner organizations and ensure the compliance with Malteser International’s and donor procurement and logistic procedures.

Your responsibilities:

  • Ensure that procurement processes and records by MI and local partners are in line with MI and donor’s guidelines and requirements
  • Ensure that the procurement department supports the programs efficiently and compliantly
  • Similarly, coordinate with the finance department to ensure payments to vendors are made on-time and without any unnecessary strain on the financial systems
  • Support the development and improvement of the logistics systems of local partner organizations through on-the-job coaching and specific capacity-building measures
  • Support local partners in tender processes
  • Establish a supplier database for Ukraine for specific goods and services needed for MI projects
  • Support the safety and security management of the MI mission in Ukraine, being directly responsible for the day-to-day practical aspects of mission safety and security (transport, premises, communications etc.) until a dedicated Safety and Security Personnel is recruited

Your profile:

  • University degree or approved comparable certificate in a relevant field and at least 5 years of proven experience in logistics/procurement with (international) NGOs
  • Experience in tenders for construction/rehabilitation 
  • Proven hands-on experience in partner capacity strengthening as well as staff development, training and mentoring and team building
  • Proven skills in MS-Word, and particularly Excel
  • Context experience in Ukraine is desired 
  • Stress resilience and readiness to live and work in a challenging security context 
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); knowledge of German and/or Ukrainian is an asset
  • This position is open for both international and national applications from Ukraine

What we offer:

  • Start Date: September 15, 2024
  • Duty Station: Lviv with possible relocation to Kyiv and duty trips to other parts of Ukraine 
  • Duration of contract: Duration of contract: 1 year (with possibility to extend)
  • Salary according to qualification and experience, additional packages depending on national or international filling of position
