Overview of position

Working under the overall supervision of the Program Officer (DTM) Maiduguri & under the direct supervision of the Project Officer (DTM), the successful candidate will be accountable & responsible for the implementation, oversight & coordination of the Displacement Tracking & Monitoring (DTM) operational activities. S / he will coordinate, in close collaboration with the partners on the field, the data collection process & analysis in the region(s) s / he has been assigned to.

Role objectives
  • Plan, coordinate & implement strategies to collect, analyze & disseminate data on IDPs in close collaboration with the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), the Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS) & other relevant partners on the field.

  • Provide training & support to relevant partners on data collection & analysis based on the DTM methodology & tools. 

  • Monitor & evaluate the DTM operations, identifying areas of improvement & enhanced efficiency. 

  • Be responsible for all administrative arrangements on the field, including payment of staff, review, adjustment & endorsement of bills & invoices.

  • Be responsible for sending the information collected on the field in a timely manner & according to the standards & requirements of the DTM program. 

  • Keep abreast of all stakeholders & interagency assessments, reports & relevant material related to Internally Displaced Persons IDP's).

  • Prepare a narrative report regarding the implementation of activities weekly.

  • Represent the DTM program in all meetings events organized at the local level.

  • Build the capacity of the our clients staff involved in DTM activities.

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Project reporting

This role works under the overall supervision of the Program Officer (DTM) Maiduguri & under the direct supervision of the Project Officer (DTM).

Key competencies
  • Bachelors degree or diploma in humanitarian, political or social science or related field with a minimum 2 years’ experience in related field, experience in statistical tools, reporting, liaising with government authorities advantageous, preferably within the international humanitarian field.

  • Must be fluent in English & Hausa.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools is an advantage.

  • Requires the technical skills to use design software programs mentioned above & possess a general interest & aptitude for learning new technology.

  • Excellent oral & written communication skills, including experience presenting to multiple audiences (e.g., technical & non technical, government circle).

  • Interpersonal skills & very friendly disposition stemming from proven experience.

Team management

This role has no team management responsibility.
