Role objectives

Position Overview:

TheContract Manager (Legal)willbe responsible for the seamless integration of legal and operational functions within our company. The dual nature of the position will encompass both business development and operational aspects and will involve direct collaboration with all departments within the organisation.

Project reporting

Business Development Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough timelydue diligence on potential clients, sub-contractors, projects, and opportunities.

  • Review and/or draft agreements, including but not limited to Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and Services Agreements, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies, laws, and regulations of the relevant operating country.

  • Provide recommendations and draft documents for amendments or revisions to contracts and legal documents to protect the company's interests.

  • Assess liabilities and risks associated with potential contracts and provide recommendations for safeguarding company interests.

  • Support with the legal and contract management,engage in negotiations with clients, vendors, and other parties to reach mutually beneficial agreements, while maintaining positive and professional relationships with externalassociates.

  • Assist in the submission of PQQ, EOI, and tender, ensuring contractual liability and protection measures are in place.

  • Review and facilitate the contract signing process, ensuring legal compliance and adherence to agreed terms.

Key competencies

Operational- Responsibilities:

  • Serve as counsel to the Project Manager, the Chief Operating Officer (COO), and if required to the Board of Directors, on strategic deals legal aspectand work closely with them to convert the contracts into deliverables.

  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and coordinate with the team members to ensure that everybody is aligned on project objectives and requirements.

  • Monitor contract compliance, including deliverables and timelines.

  • Provide timely reminders to team members for tasks related to each project's lifecycle.

  • Offer guidance and assistanceto the team members and senior executives toenhance project performance and efficiency.

  • Draft and prepare legal correspondence, letters, and other documents, as required.

  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all legal documents, correspondence, and agreements.

  • Provide advice and assistance on HR disputes, ensuring adherence to legal protocols and company’s policies.

  • Resolve general disputes, seeking support from the Group's legal counsel when necessary.

  • Ensure confidentiality and security of sensitive information.

Team management

Provide legal expertise and guidance to support business development initiatives and operational efficiency.

  • Oversee contract management processes to ensure adherence to contractual obligations and mitigate risks.

  • Act as a liaison between legal, operational, and project management teams to facilitate smooth project execution.

  • Collaborate with all team members to identify areas for process improvement and risk mitigation.

  • Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment within the team.

Qualifications:

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that s/he can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

  • Bachelor’s degree in law from an accredited institution.

  • Master's degree in a related field will be considered an advantage.

  • +5 years of relevant experience in related positions, advising executive management and senior leaders on legal, compliance and corporate matters.

  • Extensive negotiating, management, contracting experience, highly desirable to have UN knowledge.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.

  • Fluent in English.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Monday.com) is required.

  • Candidate must have the flexibility to travel nationally and internationally for the performance of his/her duties. Approximate travel requirement 10-20% at the start to understand the business, normally this is an office-based role.
