Context

The Regional Cooperation Programmes (RCP) has been iniated by the GICHD in partnership with the national mine action authorities and affected states, organisations to promote cooperation on mine action at a regional level. Through this programme, the GICHD brings various different stakeholders to share good practice in order to address common challenges and clarify terminology by disseminating documentation in various languages.

Reporting to the Cooperation Programme Manager, the Programme Officer will provide substantive operational, project management, administrative and financial support to the Regional Cooperation Programme and its projects, with a main focus on the Arab Regional Cooperation Programme

Key responsibilities

  1. Participate in the design, preparation, logistics support and delivery of workshops, trainings, conferences and seminars organised by the GICHD.
  2. Support the coordination and monitoring of project grants, including liaising with grants management, finance and other relevant teams.
  3. Support line manager in the monitoring of the finances, including on monitoring of budgets, budget development, forecasts, data improvement, as well as the compilation, analysis and presentation of financial data
  4. Support research and contribute to drafting articles, issue briefs and case studies as well as other publications.      
  5. Assist with the preparation of background information and materials. Maintain necessary infomation on the specific thematic(s).
  6. Support with administrative processes such as drafting, reviewing suppliers’ contracts, agreements, processing payments as well as supporting the coordination of meetings and mission logistics, taking minutes and reporting.  
  7. Support the contracting and monitoring of external consultants and suppliers as per the relevant processes and procedures.
  8. Actively contribute to monitoring and reporting based on the Results Based Management (RBM) system.
  9. Support drafting project proposals, concept notes, project briefs and donor reports.
  10. Maintain and update content for the GICHD website, social media and relevant information platforms in coordination with the relevant teams.
  11. Manage the translation of IMAS mine action material from English to other languages and other publications.

Job requirements

  • Bachelors’s degree in the relevant field or equivalent;
  • At least two years of professional experience in similar positions in field; programmes and/or headquarters, preferably in humanitarian affairs, development cooperation, international cooperation, disarmament, post-conflict recovery and reconstruction or any other related field;
  • Fluency in English, both written and oral;
  • Fluency / native in Arabic, both written and oral;
  • Experience working with the MENA region and a good understanding of the history and geopolitics of the region; exposure to partnership and network building in the Arab world is desirable;
  • Experience in project management, reporting of donor funds, multi-year budgets and finances as well as well as general administrative tasks;
  • Ability to work in multi-cultural settings, communicate clearly and constructively with a wide range of stakeholders;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and sharepoint;
  • Effective verbal, written and presentation skills;

Travel requirements

May be expected to travel up to 25% of the working time including to countries affected by explosive ordnance, with low-medium-high risk environment.

Salary Information

Please note that the salary level for this role is CHF 69'228 yearly gross, subject to social security deductions and income tax.
