Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Director and/or Programme Management Officer of the Beyond Lab, the intern will contribute to advancing the Lab’s thematic workstreams and operational activities. Within the delegated authority the Intern will perform the following duties: • Conduct research on evolving sustainable development concepts and trends, with a view to inform the Lab’s new and systemic lenses to long-term sustainability and shaping a long-term vision beyond 2030. • Support the development of funding proposals and other promotional materials to generate interest in the Lab’s thematic focus areas and other initiatives. • Assist in collecting, synthesizing, and drafting briefing materials (e.g., reports, talking points, and correspondence) on the Beyond Lab’s thematic focus areas and key intergovernmental processes, such as the UN Summit of the Future and beyond. • Assist in planning effective team ideation sessions focused on iterative prototyping and testing novel ideas and experimental approaches. • Support communication activities, including drafting and editing of content for the Lab's website and social media channels, as well as assisting in creating visuals, graphics and other design elements. • Assist in organizing events, workshops and other convening activities. • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/special skills
Candidates should be enrolled in, or have completed, a second university degree or equivalent, or higher; or be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme. An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in political science, public policy, international relations, social innovation, social sciences or a related field is highly desirable. Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required. applying for is required. Applicants should have good knowledge of standard software applications, especially MS Word and MS Teams. Ability to draft articles, such as web updates and newsletters, and social media posts is desirable. Candidates for the UN Internship Programme are required to cover the cost of travel including visa, accommodation, health insurance and other living expenses for the duration of the internship. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English is required for the internship. Knowledge of any additional official UN language is an asset.
