Consultancy - Terms of Reference (TOR) Title: PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant Total number of consultants 1 Country Program PlayMatters Regional Team | Uganda Proposed Dates May 6, 2024 – July 31, 2024* (Possibility for Extension) Duration 3 months/60 days Background of the project Scope of work Evidence generation and use are central to the PlayMatters project, and the PlayMatters consortium is committed to building the evidence base on Learning through Play interventions. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will support the project’s production of high-quality evidence to inform policy, practice, and further research. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the PlayMatters Research & Learning Agenda through data cleaning, analysis, and visualization. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will also support the uptake of evidence by creating additional products from PlayMatters studies and executing dissemination activities for Consultantal and external stakeholders. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will be supervised by the PlayMatters Regional Research & Learning Coordinator, based out of NYC, NY. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant may be based in Kampala, Uganda or Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. If based in Kampala or Addis Ababa, this is an in-person position with remote technical supervision and an in-person focal person will be assigned. The PlayMatters Research & Learning Consultant will support a broad range of research and learning activities to advance the PlayMatters Research & Learning Agenda, including: Data cleaning: cleaning both quantitative and qualitative data sets for analysis in software. Data analysis: conducting preliminary analysis of data, such as descriptive statistical analysis for quantitative datasets and initial codebook creation for qualitative datasets. Study design: support the design and review of study tools. Ethical clearance: support the documentation and submission of Institutional Review Board ethical clearances for studies. Report reviews: review and copyedit technical research and learning reports. Evidence product development: support the development of additional evidence products, including blog posts, infographics, and briefs to increase the uptake of PlayMatters evidence in accessible formats. Evidence dissemination: support the planning and execution of evidence dissemination in Consultantal and external forums. Deliverables: Payment Rate and Schedule:

Requirements: Education: Demonstrated Skills and Competencies. Language Skills: Strong writing skills (in English) and significant writing experience Working Environment:The successful candidate will have experience working in cross-cultural contexts and must be able to work remotely without significant technical support from IRC.
