Mission and objectives

OCHA coordinates the global emergency response to save lives and protect people in humanitarian crises. We advocate for effective and principled humanitarian action by all, for all. OCHA's work has five core pillars: Coordination OCHA coordinates effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors Humanitarian Financing OCHA coordinates global humanitarian funding appeals and manages global and country-specific humanitarian response funds Policy OCHA sets an evidence-based and forward-looking humanitarian policy agenda Advocacy OCHA speaks on behalf of people affected by conflict and disaster Information Management OCHA collects, analyses and shares critical humanitarian data and information

Context

This project is in led by OCHA's Design and Multimedia Unit to promote the Humanitarian Networks and Partnerships Weeks (HNPW). The focus is on the pivotal work of the United Nations Disaster Assessment and Coordination (UNDAC) in managing and coordinating international emergency responses. Through your designs, we aim to showcase UNDAC's leadership and collaborative efforts in disaster-hit regions, underscoring the critical role they play in global humanitarian responses. Your contribution will help elevate the visibility and understanding of UNDAC's impact in international disaster management and coordination **** Submission of a portfolio with samples of design work is required (link to PDF or website) ****

Task description

We are looking for one Online Volunteer who under the guidance of the Head of the Design and Multimedia Unit support us by producing one poster for the Humanitarian Partnership Week event in Geneva. In particular, the Online Volunteer is asked to: - Collect information on document/material background such as target audience, design style, branding guidelines etc.; - Create draft design based on requirements and discuss with focal point/ communications team; - Develop the design according to agreed requirements. The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance. The Online Volunteer will have the opportunity to build connections with the Design and Multimedia Unit at OCHA and learn about the ways in which graphic design can support humanitarian action. **** Submission of a portfolio with samples of design work is required (link to PDF or website) ****
