Key to successful project delivery is the ability to mobilise at speed; CTG can source and deploy anyone, anywhere, in less than 2 weeks and have done so in 48 hours on a number of occasions.

Overview of position
  • CTG (Committed to Good) delivers staffing solutions to humanitarian & development projects through our specialised recruitment, HR management & operational services. In operation since 2006, today we are honoured to serve humanitarian & development clients in 25 fragile & conflict affected states with our staff assisting with disaster relief, peace building, humanitarian aid & development programs & more. 

  • HR specialists, CTG recruits, deploys & manages the duty of care of thousands of staff in the field.   • This Communications Intern will provide proactive support to the communications & marketing team who are based in Newlands, Cape Town & are responsible for all the marketing & communications efforts for CTG. The CommunicationI ntern will gain hand -on exposure to related activities such as content creation, research & project management among others. This will be gained through the delivery of various meaningful projects that deliver tangible impact in CTG’s countries of operation. This is a unique internship in that the Communications Intern will also have the opportunity to develop their understanding of how the private sector can support humanitarian & development impact. They will also have the opportunity to support the Social Impact Manager & work with her on some of her projects that are focused on increasing CTG’s impact on SDG 5 within our areas of operation.

Role objectives

Specific responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Working with the content team on crafting mailers, stories, blogs & any other communications sent out to our network around the impact of CTG’s work delivering HR to humanitarian & development organisations in conflict affected regions.

  • Brainstorming ideas for social media, projects & pieces of content.

  • Working on the rollout of communication campaigns & connecting with CTG teams around the world gathering information for these campaigns.

  • Working closely with creative team on rollout of projects such as the sustainability report.

  • Reaching out to our team around the world to gather information for use in communications.

  • Researching current affairs & important themes within the humanitarian & development sector.

  • Opportunity to also spend time with our Shared Value Manager to learn about the role of sustainability within the company’s positioning & work & support her with the rollout of her projects.

  • Opportunity to work on content for the other Chelsea Group companies, including sectors such as clean water technology, private security & camp management.

Project reporting

This role reports to the Senior Head of Content & Communications Director but will be actively in communication with relevant stakeholders including the wider communications team & CTG’s Shared Value Manager.

Key competencies
  • Bachelors or masters in arts, international relations, international development, communications or journalism or a related field.

  • Fluency in English is essential.

  • Additional languages will be considered a bonus. 

  • Demonstrate a keen interest in communications within humanitarian settings.

  • Have strong written & verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Be a creative thinker & confident in sharing ideas.

  • Have a positive attitude, be eager to learn & willing to take initiative.

  • Be comfortable multi tasking & prioritising.

  • Be able to collaborate effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office & ability to quickly master other digital tools.

Team management

This role has no team management responsibility.
