Mission and objectives

Kar Geno is a community-based not for profit organisation that was created in 2004 with a purpose to help the community deal with the growing HIV/AIDS epidemic. Its very first initiatives were to help the community members faced with this disease as well as to raise the awareness and educate the rest of the community about the prevention measures. Having experienced good response from the community, Kar Geno then evolved and initiated a number of projects in the areas of microfinance/ table-banking, agriculture, women's cooperatives and support to children in need. Kar Geno's mission is to activate social solidarity, agriculture, technology, environmental sustainability to turn the tides against the effects of HIV/AIDS on the people of Asembo. The main objectives of the organisation are: •to eradicate illiteracy and ignorance of health through education, •to increase food production for health and income through sustainable agriculture, •to improve the health of the community members in both preventative and curative measures, •to empower women and youth with emphasis on girl-child.
