Job Overview/Summary:
Under
the direct supervision of the Snr Protection Officer, the Protection Assistant provides
the humanitarian support and protection monitoring in flood affected areas. The
position will support the emergency response in in the affected areas when
needed and requested by the supervisor. The tasks entail the monitoring the
humanitarian situation and trends related to the affected population living in
the crisis areas, conducting monitoring visits and assessments, reporting on
the safety and material needs of the affected population, and advising,
planning and conducting the CRI/NFI distributions in the affected areas while ensuring
the integrated response with other IRC teams. The position will also oversee
the safe referrals of the identified individuals in the crisis area setting to
the relevant available services with the informed consent of the clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Supporting the Snr Protection Officer for creating protection monitoring tools tailored for the targeted areas
Supporting the Snr Protection Officer for preparing the protection monitoring reports, fact sheets and SitReps.
Assist the Snr Protection Officer and PRoL Manager for developing the Standard Operational Procedures for the targeted areas monitoring activities.
Planning and conducting the protection monitoring activities in the targeted areas in order to gather data and assess the vulnerability of the beneficiaries according to the defined Standard Operating Procedures.
Ensuring transparent, accurate and timely collection of data under the guidance of the Snr Protection Officer.
Coordinating the field activities and the monitoring visits in the targeted areas with IRC’s WPE and Health Teams and ensure the coordinated approach with the other PRoL Teams.
Being 7/24 available and ready upon call-for-duty for urgent responses.
Gathering routine data about the conditions, vulnerabilities, the status of persons with special needs, the need of CRI/NFIs in the targeted areas.
Distributing CRI/NFIs in the identified safe distribution points in the targeted areas, minding the distance and safety measures for the affected population living in the targeted areas.
Working closely with the communities and community structures, supporting them to establish the community committee structures and provide technical training.
Ensure timely and safe referrals of the identified in-need persons to the relevant service provision as per their needs and will (with the informed consent) - including, health services, WPE services, CRI/NFI provision, cash-based response, and so on.
Maintaining documentation of the monitoring activities and assisting in tracking data related to beneficiaries, compiling and reporting the data.
Filling existing data collection tools and working on the improvement of the existing ones in collaboration with the M&E teams.
Attending and engaging in team and internal meetings, support and supervision sessions.
Establishing and maintaining networks with local NGOs and INGOs’ field staff conducting similar activities and/or covering the same areas.
Keeping
the Snr Protection Officer up to date and informed about the queries and
requests made by other IRC departments, officials and other stakeholders
involved in the humanitarian field in a timely manner.
Create
and contribute to the collaborative working relationship and communication
between other team members.
Undertake
other tasks as requested by the line manager. (The duties and responsibilities

Qualifications
Job Requirements:
Education:
University degree in humanitarian
affairs or other relevant studies is preferred
Work
Experience:
A previous humanitarian experience with a CSO, NGO, or UN is essential
A former experience with an international organization is desired.
Demonstrated
Skills and Competencies:
Belief in human rights, including gender
equality.
Experience with working with vulnerable
populations.
Demonstrated protection experience, in
particular in terms of data collection and detecting and referring of vulnerable
cases as well as information dissemination and individual counselling.
Excellent
interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
Ability
to form and implement systems and procedures and ensure their adherence.
Proven
computer literacy skills.
Ability
to work under difficult working conditions.
Ability
and willingness to work and travel throughout a remote area.

Advanced English and Arabic language skills, oral and written.
