Mission and objectives

Context

The UN Volunteer will be based at the WHO European Center for Preparedness for Humanitarian and Health Emergencies (PHHE) in Istanbul and work under the direct supervision of the Head of Office, in close collaboration with the PHHE team. S/he will provide support to the Head of Office in the area of programme management and will collaborate with other team members on the implementation of activities. S/he may seek guidance for solutions to complicated programme matters from relevant staff.

Task description

Under the direct supervision of the Head of the WHO European Centre for Preparedness for Humanitarian and Health Emergencies (PHHE), the UN Volunteer will undertake the following tasks: • Provide technical support to the Head of Office in the overall programme management, including the development, day-to-day operation, monitoring and evaluation of work plans to ensure the effective execution of the outbreaks and health emergencies programmes. • Assist the Head of Office in the development, implementation and monitoring of the technical and operational plans. • Ensure proper use of designated funds to achieve results as per defined indicators; underpin compliance with project management principles. • Consolidate inputs for the preparation of proposals, appeals, donor reporting, particularly technical reports, in line with donor agreements or ad-hoc requests, and submit to the Head of Office for review and approval. • Consolidate and disseminate information on programme management. Assist the Head of Office in the preparation of monitoring and progress reports, briefing notes, talking points, presentations and summary report for high level meetings. • Attend various programme management meetings and provide feedback to the Head of Office. • Review and edit technical documents as requested by the supervisor. • Work in close collaboration with the administrative staff and ensure the relevant tasks are carried out timely. • Perform any other related duties, as required by the supervisor.
