Mission and objectives

For two decades, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has been helping make the world safer from drugs, organized crime, corruption and terrorism. We are committed to achieving health, security and justice for all by tackling these threats and promoting peace and sustainable well-being as deterrents to them. Because the scale of these problems is often too great for states to confront alone, UNODC offers practical assistance and encourages transnational approaches to action. We do this in all regions of the world through our global programmes and network of field offices. The Office is committed to supporting Member States in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at its core. The 2030 Agenda clearly recognizes that the rule of law and fair, effective and humane justice systems, as well as health-oriented responses to drug use, are both enablers for and part of sustainable development. The Border Management Branch was created in April 2022 to deliver collaborative and comprehensive border management technical assistance to Member States. The Branch includes UNODC's Airport Communication Programme (AIRCOP), Container Control Programme (CCP), the Global Maritime Crime Programme (GMCP), the Criminal Network Disruption Programme (CRIMJUST) and the UNODC Environment Team, which runs the Global Programme on Crimes that Affect the Environment.

Context

Created at the end of 2022, the Global Programme on Criminal Network Disruption (GPCD) aims to promote intelligence-led and cooperative criminal justice responses across regions that will both inform targeted law enforcement and border control efforts and provide effective follow-up, going beyond seizures toward disrupting criminal networks. With a focus on operational and case-based support, GPCD develops and implements capacities and strategies that allow criminal justice officials to understand, plan, detect, investigate, prosecute, defund and ultimately disrupt transnational organized crime groups. GPCD forms part of the UNODC Border Management Branch (BMB) and unites the GPCD Criminal Intelligence and Analysis Team (“CIAP”) and the GPCD Criminal Justice Cooperation Team (“CRIMJUST”). CRIMJUST has successfully supported Member States in the fight against transnational organized crime and drug trafficking since 2016, connecting origin, transit and destination countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, West Africa and Europe with the aim to promote and strengthen cross-border investigations. By bringing investigators and prosecutors from countries situated along trafficking routes together to collaborate on specific cases, the program has made substantial strides in disrupting the activities of organized crime groups.

Task description

We are looking for an Online Volunteer who under the guidance of the CRIMJUST Coordinator and in close collaboration with the communications team support us by producing graphic designs for the newly created Global Programme. In particular, the Online Volunteer is asked to: - Based on the already created new logo(s), adapt and design the templates for the Programme's presentations, letters, briefing notes, signature blocks, concept notes, project proposals, reports, merchandise, etc. The design/layout should follow our corporate design guidelines which will be shared with the Online Volunteers in advance. The Online Volunteer/s will have the opportunity to build connections with the Global Programme team at UNODC and learn about the ways in which graphic design can support branding efforts.
