Functional Setting

The Project Officer will work for the Return and Reintegration Facility (RRF), specifically in the implementation of the Reaching Undocumented Migrants (RUM) project and the Supporting Networks of Practitioners activieis. The RRF is an initiative facilitating the continued development and implementation of cooperation amongst and between Members States and countries of return within the area of return and reintegration. In cooperation with the Federaal Agentschap voor de Opvang van Asielzoekers (Fedasil), the Migration Policy Institute Europe (MPI Europe), and the Mixed Migration Centre (MMC), the RRF Facility Support Office (RRF FSO) is responsible for the implementation of the Reach Out (3.0)1 or Reaching Undocumented Migrants (RUM) project.

The Project Officer will support the implementation through placement within Fedasil, supporting the achievement of the overall objective of the project to further develop and implement evidence-based tools and processes that can be used by a wide (European) community of practice for the betterment of outreach practices directed at undocumented migrants within the European Union (EU).

Following the conclusion of the project, the project officer will support the implementation of follow up activities within the RRF Facility Support team.

Position-Specific Expertise

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the return and reintegration agenda
  • Experience in effective implementation of projects in an international context in the field of migration.
  • Capability to promote capacity-building measures in project design and implementation.
  • Ability to integrate new approaches and innovations and ensure the cost-effective use of project funds.
  • Capability to successfully build strategic networks and partnerships.
  • Capability to independently operate in the development and the return and sustainable reintegration areas of operation.

Position-Specific Qualifications and Language Skills

  • Master's Degree related to the area of work.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in the development and coordination of projects in the field of migration at the international level.
  • Experience from the return context and from return counselling is an asset.
  • Proficiency in (verbal/written) English; proficiency in a major EU language is an asset. ​
