INTRODUCTION TO GGGI

POSITION SUMMARY

The position leads the Office of Internal Audit and Integrity in the development of frameworks and strategies to analyze and report on the use of organizational resources, management and mitigation of risk, in order to help position GGGI as an accountable and trusted partner to donors and stakeholders. Head of Internal Audit provides an independent, objective assurance to Management that adds value to GGGI’s operations and thereby improves the effectiveness of risk management, control, and both operational and governance processes.

 

PURPOSE

  • Leads the development of a risk-based multi-year internal audit work plan to determine the functions, offices, or processes to be audited.
  • Leads risk-based audit and advisory engagements in compliance with the International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) in support of the strategic needs of GGGI.
  • Documents, evaluates, and tests systems and controls to determine their adequacy and effectiveness to ensure (i) compliance with policies and procedures; (ii) accomplishment of management’s objectives; (iii) reliability and integrity of information; (iv) economic use of resources; and (v) safeguarding of assets.
  • Monitors the implementation of agreed management plans of action in response to internal audit recommendations.

 

ENGAGEMENT

  • Provides comprehensive and value-adding audit reports to GGGI management and to the Council per the approved Annual Internal Audit Plan;
  • Convinces auditees on why the issues raised during the audits present a risk to the organization and secures agreement on recommendations and timelines for corrective actions with the responsible officers for the operations and processes audited.
  • Works with GGGI management to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed action plans in addressing the issues identified and propose enhancements if the proposed action plans are deficient.

 

 

DELIVERY

  • Plans resources and timeframes so as to complete audits in compliance with International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) as well as GGGI’s regulatory framework;
  • Prepares structured, comprehensive, and conclusive working papers supporting audit issues
  • Utilizes modern data analysis and business intelligence tools in conducting audits and preparing reports and summaries for the different stakeholders.
  • Prepare analysis of client’s responses to recommendations action plans
  • Engages in investigations, special projects and advisories as may be required

 

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • A master’s degree in business administration, Finance, Economics, or a related field. Two additional relevant years of qualification may be considered in lieu of a master's degree.
  • Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) issued by the IIA.
  • Other certifications such as CISA, CRMA, or CFE are an advantage.
  • 7 – 10 years post-qualification of relevant professional experience in audit or directly related field, including 3 years in a multilateral organization, is required.
  • At least two years of international experience – living and working outside of home country. 
  • Excellent command of written and oral English is essential; familiarity with another UN language is an advantage.

  

FUNCTIONAL

  • Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of audit techniques and ability to take ownership and plan and organize internal audit engagements, identifying priorities and allocating appropriate time and resources to complete the assignment and honor commitments.
  • Experience in auditing ICT and systems is a plus.
  • Experience in using data analytics tools, such as IDEA, ACL, Tableau, Power BI, and/or Excel, to analyze entire data populations is also required.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with different stakeholders by soliciting input and genuinely valuing others’ ideas and expertise and effectively collecting and gathering information necessary for the conduct of audit assignments or the monitoring of recommendations implementation.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to listen to auditees and other stakeholders when conducting the audits, showing visible engagement by asking questions to clarify audit points. Ability to tailor language, tone, style, and format to match the audience.
  • Demonstrated willingness to keep abreast of and learn new technologies and look at their potential applicability to support audit engagements and audit results communication.

WORKING CONDITIONS

This is an X10, international grade level in GGGI's salary scale. For X10 International grade, the base salary starts from USD 93,480. Determination of base salary is subject to candidate's experience, academic background and internal equity. GGGI provides 15% of base salary towards retirement plan/long-term savings, 27 days of annual leave, and private health insurance that covers dental and vision.
