The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) Hub in Amman was established in Amman in late 2006. Its aim is to provide the United Nations sister agencies and the humanitarian and development sectors within the Region with professional project implementation services. 

UNOPS is the largest service provider in the United Nations system, working on behalf of more than 30 UN departments and organizations. UNOPS Hub in Amman services the needs of Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Syria and Turkey, working together with the Governments, International Donors, UN Agencies, and others. As the implementing arm of the UN, UNOPS Hub in Amman manages projects and provides specialized project-management services.

UNOPS Hub in Amman supports UNOPS service provision and implementation in Jordan. It provides a range of project management and related services to its clients and partners. The current projects combine logistics, procurement, contract management, personnel recruitment and administration/financial management, institutional reforms and governance strengthening, training, security technology, borders and crossings, and Infrastructure.

Job-Specific Information

UNOPS is providing operational support to UNAMI in Iraq to facilitate electoral preparations and processes, with the primary objective of strengthening democratic institutions in Iraq through the promotion of regional parliamentary elections. The project aims to enhance the credibility and transparency of the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) and promote inclusion and participation in electoral processes in accordance with national legal and policy frameworks. The project aligns with the Sustainable Development Goal 16 and the Iraq Vision 2030 plan. UNOPS will conduct an assessment of the capacity of relevant entities who will organize the upcoming elections and provide training needs, provide technical assistance, carry out a UN communication campaign, support national observation, and conduct post-election activities including a lessons learned workshop. 

UNOPS will recruit a team consisting of local and international staff to provide the requested assistance in the areas of support identified by UNAMI. The planned number of personnel in the team is approximately 10 staff.

The Security Senior Assistant will provide a comprehensive range of specialized and administrative support services for the management of security and safety operations. The Security Senior Assistant promotes a client-oriented approach consistent with UNOPS rules and regulations and UN Security Management System policies. S/he is responsible for resolving security related issues and information exchange in a timely fashion.
